Wilton, Michael James, Nov. 20, 1976-April 22, 2022.
Michael James Wilton left us far too soon. He was larger than life, with a great sense of fun, a booming laugh and a generous heart. Much-loved by family and friends, Mike was the centre of every party. Born in Swift Current, Sask., he moved to Winnipeg, Man. for Grade 10, attended Kevin High School and was quickly and enthusiastically drafted to the school’s football team. He earned a petroleum engineering degree at SAIT and enjoyed a successful career in the oil industry in Lloydminster and Calgary — earning a spot on the BP cleanup team in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 — before launching his own business, Flight Simple Aircraft Sales. The proud dad of twins Thomas James Wilton and William Robert Wilton (the “junior sales associates”), Mike was a pilot, an entrepreneur, and an adventurer who never turned down the chance to have fun, or lend a helping hand. He leaves behind partner Kelli Beckstrand, Joyce Goodhand (mother), siblings Christine Claire Wilton (Dhanani), William Scott Wilton, Chadwick Dean Wilton, Tom and Will’s mom Autumn and a host of family and friends.
Blue Skies and Tailwinds, Mike, you will be so sorely missed.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held Friday June 3 at The Hangar Flight Museum on McCall Way. Further details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name are welcome at
