Tip: German roaches
Tiny brown roaches in the kitchen or bathroom are almost always German cockroaches, and they don't go away on their own. They breed fast and hide in cracks near warmth and water: behind fridges, under sinks, in cabinet hinges.

Palmetto bugs (American cockroaches) usually live outdoors in mulch, palm trees, and drains. When they show up inside, it's usually because they found water and an easy way in: a leaky fixture, a damp garage, a sweating AC line, or an open drain.
