🦆 A GREAT MOUNT STARTS IN THE FIELD.

You put in the scouting, the early mornings, and the work to finally get that trophy bird — don’t let poor field care ruin it before it ever reaches your taxidermist.

After the hunt, handle your bird carefully. Don’t wring the neck, carry it by the neck, or stuff it into a game bag with other birds. Keep the feathers as clean and dry as possible, avoid unnecessary handling, and get the bird cooled down quickly.

If you can’t get it to your taxidermist right away, gently tuck the head alongside or under a wing, place the bird in a plastic bag, remove excess air, seal it, and freeze it as soon as possible. Avoid wrapping the bird tightly in newspaper or anything that can freeze directly to the feathers.

Those first few hours after the hunt can make a huge difference in the quality of your finished mount.

Take care of the trophy in the field, and we’ll take care of preserving the memory.
