A computer issue does not always require a visit, and a physical setup problem is not always best handled through a screen share.

Software errors, email-sync trouble or account issues may be suitable for secure remote support. A new device installation, hands-on setup or home network problem may be better assessed in person. The right approach depends on your specific setup and what needs to be done.

FleckTech offers remote support nationwide and in-person service across Long Island and the Capital Region. Appointments are required, and travel costs may apply for some on-site visits.

Tech problems are frustrating enough without wondering what the help will cost.

At FleckTech Solutions, we start with a conversation about what is happening. Then Mitchell recommends a practical path and confirms a clear quote before service work begins. The price depends on the actual work and complexity; we are not promising a flat rate for every problem.

The initial 30-minute phone or video consultation is free and no-obligation. Service itself is quoted separately, and appointments are required.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. One useful step for this week: pick an account that matters to you—your email, bank or a business administrator login—and check whether multifactor authentication is turned on.

If that account offers an authenticator app or a physical security key, consider choosing it over a text-message code. The FTC notes that text codes are still better than no extra factor when stronger options are unavailable. No sign-in method is a guarantee, but stronger methods can reduce risk.

CISA explains the options here: https://www.cisa.gov/audiences/small-and-medium-businesses/secure-your-business/require-multifactor-authentication

If you would like help reviewing the sign-in options on your own accounts, FleckTech Solutions serves both Long Island and the Capital Region. Appointments are required.

Small Business Roll Call

Business owners: what inspired you to start your business?

Introduce your business in the comments and tell everyone:

• Your business name
• What you do
• Where you are located or which areas you serve
• What first motivated you to begin
• Your page or website
• A recent project, photo or offer you want people to know about

Then support at least one other business in the comments. Like their page, follow their work, leave a thoughtful comment or share their business when appropriate.

Different businesses need their websites to help visitors do different things.

One visitor may need to find a business and make contact. Another may want to explore a property and understand what is included. Someone researching a personal brand needs a clear reason to reach out. A creative studio needs a place to showcase its work and connect with prospective clients.

That is why a useful website starts with the audience, the goal and the next step instead of forcing every business into the same layout.

A shared support or information inbox can be visible to everyone while the next customer reply belongs to no one.

A clearer workflow begins with three habits:

1. Name one operational owner and one backup
2. Assign each message before researching or drafting
3. Keep every conversation in a visible state such as New, In Progress, Waiting or Resolved

Response targets should match the team’s real staffing and business hours. An automatic receipt may set expectations, but it is not the same as a meaningful reply from a responsible person.

A proud moment for FleckTech Solutions!

We’re excited to share that FleckTech was featured in Saratoga.com’s article, “How Saratoga Homes & Businesses Can Stay Protected When It Comes to Cybersecurity.”

The article highlights our personal approach to helping households, remote workers and small businesses—and shares how FleckTech began with Mitchell helping his own family navigate technology problems.

That family-driven foundation still shapes everything we do: patient guidance, practical help and a real person you can turn to when technology gets overwhelming.

Thank you to Erin Nudi and the Saratoga.com team for sharing our story. And thank you to every customer, friend and local business who has trusted FleckTech and helped us grow. This is a milestone we’re proud to share with you!

One practical small-business cybersecurity control is to keep payment processing separate from everyday web browsing, email and routine programs.

The Federal Communications Commission advises businesses to isolate payment systems from less-secure programs and avoid using the same computer to process payments and browse the internet.

That does not replace the requirements set by your bank or payment processor. Work with those providers to confirm the approved tools, anti-fraud services and obligations that apply to your business.

Location sharing can provide reassurance, but age alone is not a reason to monitor someone continuously.

Before turning on Apple Find My, Google Maps or another location-sharing tool, start with a conversation:

• What specific problem are we trying to solve?
• Does the person freely agree to share?
• Who may see the location and when?
• What should trigger a text, call or emergency response?
• When will sharing stop or be reviewed?

A check-in text, trip-based sharing or a one-time location may solve the need without creating an all-day view of someone’s routine. Start with the least intrusive option and stop at the first level that works.

Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10 and this year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.”

Take ten minutes to check the rechargeable devices your home or business depends on:

• Keep batteries and charging devices away from direct heat and anything that can burn
• Follow the product’s instructions for charging, storage and disposal
• Stop using a battery that develops an odor, changes color or shape, leaks, makes unusual noises or becomes excessively hot
• Take lithium-ion batteries to an appropriate local recycling location instead of placing them in household trash

A safer charging routine starts with noticing changes early and treating damaged batteries seriously. Read the U.S. Fire Administration’s battery-safety guidance:

https://www.usfa.fema.gov/prevention/home-fires/prevent-fires/batteries/

If you need help organizing device chargers or setting up replacement technology, FleckTech Solutions can help. Appointments are required.
