Saratoga Organizing Solutions (SOS) is partnering with the Achievement Center for Children and Families (ACCF) in Delray Beach, Florida. Mike and I attended the annual Co****le for the Kids event where the proceeds benefit the ACCF programs, serving more than 700 local children and families. The programs they offer are life changing for families in the community.

And in case you’re wondering who that huggable supporter is with the big smile and pink vest……. that’s Sugar Bear! Mike and I just could not get enough of her!

Let’s talk about one of my favorite pantry items: The Turntable

We at the Billok household are peanut butter lovers – Mike a bit more than me as this is a close 3rd to bourbon and bacon. As with bourbon, we have many different types of peanut butter. Why you ask? Well, we do enjoy our local Farmer’s Market and trying the various types of peanut butter from Saratoga Peanut Butter Company.

So, how do you not lose the containers in the pantry and forget what you have? How can you prevent items getting lost in the abyss of the deep shelves?

The TURNTABLE!

The turntable provides a way to view the various flavors with ease and can also be used in many areas of your home, and they aren’t expensive! The one in this photo was from Kohl’s which cost $10 (plus I may have had a coupon so let’s say $7) 😊

Clearly NYC was calling for me! Missing the opportunity to see this…….I think not! 😉

Tip of the Day: Fix It Basket

If you have an item that needs to be repaired, place it in the fix it basket. Give yourself a time period to get that item fixed. If you don’t meet that deadline, consider tossing it.

We all have that item that we love but it broke, or a button fell off and we just can’t part with it. Place it in the basket and give yourself a reasonable amount of time to get that item repaired. If you haven’t gotten it repaired within that timeframe ask yourself if it may be time to part ways with that item.

Topic: Junk Drawer

Ahhh, the almighty junk drawer. It’s the place you can toss those miscellaneous items that you someday may or may not need. The go to drawer to clear off the counter or empty your pockets containing that random screw you found in the washing machine. The drawer where if you move things around enough you just might find what you’re looking for because you’re pretty sure you threw that item in there about 6 months ago.
So, how do you keep your junk drawer somewhat organized? Ours is organized into sections/categories (Tools, Glasses, Electronics, pens, keys, etc,) Does it always stay organized? Heck no! It’s a junk drawer! 🤷‍♀️However, when I have a few minutes, I just do a little cleaning up of the drawer to keep it organized. It’s much easier to maintain it when it’s broken down into sections/categories. 😊

Hello Friends,

This is a great article touching on why we hold onto the "stuff" that we don't need or enjoy and how to let go. This can be really hard to do!! If you were to look around the room you're currently in, what percentage of the things filling that room are meaningful, useful or just bring you joy and happiness?

From this article, I've listed the top 3 reasons why we do this. The article really dives into a description of each of these and I know I could relate and I'm sure that most of you will be able to as well.

1. Attachment and Sentimentality
2. Fear of Letting Go
3. Perceived Value

The tips provided on how to start letting go are:

Start small: Begin with one room or one category of items, such as clothes or books.

Ask yourself the tough questions: When was the last time you used or enjoyed this item? Do you really need it or love it?

Get rid of duplicates: Do you have multiple items that serve the same purpose? Keep only the one you use the most or that brings you the most joy.

Donate or sell: If an item is in good condition but no longer serves you, consider donating or selling it to someone who could use it.

Create a system for incoming items: To prevent clutter from building up again, create a system for handling new items that come into your home. For example, commit to donating or selling one item for every new item you bring in.

Let's explore "The Psychology of Clutter: How to Let Go of Unnecessary Things in Your Home" and learn what is behind the...
