A Little Behind-the-Scenes Look at Printing
There’s something happening in the printing industry that many people may not realize.
Professional printers across the country are struggling with the growing use of AI-generated artwork—not because we’re against AI, but because **what looks great on a screen isn’t necessarily ready to print.**
AI can create some amazing images. But when that artwork comes to a professional printer, there can be issues with resolution, blurry details, incorrect proportions, missing elements, strange text, colors that won't reproduce correctly, and files that simply aren't built for professional printing.
And that’s where the printer gets caught in the middle.
A customer sees a beautiful image on their phone and understandably thinks, *“Just print this.”* Unfortunately, getting that image from a screen to a banner, sign, shirt, business card, or other printed product can sometimes require a lot more work than people realize.
We love technology. We use technology every day in our printshop. And AI certainly has its place.
We just want people to understand that **creating an image and creating a print-ready file are two very different things.**
So if your printer tells you that an AI-generated image needs some work before it can be printed, they're not being difficult. They're trying to make sure the finished product looks as good in your hands as it did on your screen. ❤️
