Lake Superior State University generated nearly $110 million in economic activity across Michigan in fiscal year 2024, according to a study by the Michigan Association of State Universities (MASU) and Anderson Economic Group.

LSSU’s economic impact reaches well beyond campus. The university contributed nearly $39 million in tax revenue to the state and supported approximately 465 jobs statewide. Spending tied to fall 2024 student enrollment alone added nearly $8.3 million in net new economic output.

The benefits extend to alumni as well. LSSU alumni earned about $388 million in post-tax, in-state earnings, including an estimated $56 million tied directly to the value of their LSSU degrees.

By driving Michigan's economy today and educating tomorrow's workforce, LSSU delivers a return on investment for both students and the state.

🍳 Sault Area Career Center Hosts Annual Fall Advisory Breakfast at the Economic Development Corporation! 🥐

We were thrilled to host our annual advisory breakfast this Wednesday. A huge shoutout to our newest program’s (Hospitality and Tourism Management) students and their instructor, Mrs. Rachel Odbert. This was the very first event they helped to put on, and they did a fantastic job helping decorate, set up, and keeping the event running smoothly.

A special thank you to our incredible community partners and industry representatives for giving your time and expertise to support the future of our local workforce.

The event featured a breakfast platter from Frank's Place, pastries from Chartwells, coffee from Superior Cafe, and specialized soda drinks from Superior Sips - 👷 Hard Hat Soda & 🌟 Five-Star Float.
