On a recent site visit, WRA biologist Matthew Schliebe captured some incredible activity at the Petersen Ranch Mitigation Bank in Los Angeles County.
These images show Monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) larvae and Crotch’s bumblebee (Bombus crotchii) on the narrowleaf milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis), a California native and pollinator host plant of choice.
Pollinators are vital for biodiversity and are one indicator of healthy ecosystems. For more information about this unique and ecologically important site, visit the Bank website: https://landveritasmitigationbanks.com/petersen.html
