You can tell a lot about a city by the businesses that survive.

The ones that stayed open when times got hard. The ones where somebody's Mama worked the register, somebody's Uncle fixed the cars, somebody's Auntie did hair, and somebody's Granddaddy knew everybody who walked through the door.

Black businesses have always carried a little extra. Hope. Pride. Responsibility. They feed us, celebrate us, hire us, and remind us who we are.

That's why the Black Business Expo matters.
