It's election time! So here is a sample of what is on the ballot for Sawyer and the measure being voted on. There are other state things being voted on as well, I would just like to post what has a direct link to us. To see the full sample ballot click the link below. The Sawyer City Hall will be open from 7am to 7pm on the 9th for the election. Sawyer Public School will also be holding elections in the city hall at the same time for convenienece.

The gas pump is out of commission for a few days. Gotta love equipment failure. Should be up and running by the end of the week.

Heads Up the city is having spraying done for weeds today. In the park and around the city hall. Please stay out of these grassy areas until it dries, around 2 pm.

Weird free thing to do!
Do you like asparagus?? Asparagus is a nutritious spring vegetable, low in calories and rich in vitamins (A, C, K) and fiber, with potential benefits for digestion, blood pressure, and eye health.
Asparagus is one of those things that grows wild around our area. With the recent rain, its already ready to harvest in most areas. But it will go to bolt very fast if not harvested soon. Most times you will find it growing along the river, sloughs and sometimes in the most random spot. The first picture is what you are going to look for when hunting for it, the second is what it will look like if it doesn't get picked and goes to seed. (i usually mark this spot for next year so I know where it is 😉)
When cutting the asparagus you are looking for pieces that are 6-10 inches tall and the top is still tight together. You want to cut them or snap them off as close to the soil as you can to ensure they come back next year. When cooking them, if you bend them slightly, they will snap off at where the woody part stops and the tender part starts or you can use a knife and just feel for it, it should cut through like butter. this spot is usually an inch and half to 2 inches from the bottom.
As always, stay safe while doing this, remember ticks are out. And if going along the river to hunt for it, check with property owners so you are not trespassing. HAPPY ESPARAGUS HUNTING!

Effective May 5th, 2026 Summer Hours.
The office hours for the summer have been changed but staff may not always be in the office during that time. If the office is closed during these hours, staff is still reachable by phone and email. Thank you for your understanding.

Gotcha! branches in the leaf dumpster..... 🤦‍♀️
This one we will let slide because the dumpsters had just been swapped out and we had not put the signs on them yet. Future reference- the one with steps next to it is for grass clippings and leaves.
