Hanson Field Flower Farm-closed permanently in 2015 Our business has CLOSED permanently as of February 2015
Thank you to our customers and associates in the farm community for many wonderful years.

As you can see from the Feb 14th post one of our main greenhouses has collapsed under the weight of the 3 day snow event. We have never had a problem with the snow load before so it was unexpected to say the least. Gail and I had planned on ending our greenhouse experience in a few years but this catastrophic event has caused us to rethink our future business plans. After much heartbreak and number crunching we have decided that it is in our best interest to end our venture that was Hanson Field Flower Farm.
We will miss growing flowers on such a grand scale but mostly we will miss all of you, our fellow gardeners and flower lovers. It has been our honor and pleasure to serve you for the past 16 years. It is our sincerest hope that our plants have brought some measure of pleasure in your lives.

If you have questions you can post here or message us.

A big thank you to all of our gardening friends!

P.S. If you have unredeemed gift cards please contact us so that we may refund your purchase.

Well I was sad to here about the Snells' greenhouse collapse, now I'm doubly sad. Yup one of ours has gone down as well. More details later, lots of replanning to do. I thought I had enough to do just moving snow!

Just checking in to let the world know i'm still kickin around.I do have one tidbit of wonderment. I had heard that robins sometimes overwinter here in Maine. Well yesterday we had about 20 robins feeding on the berries of our burning bush, a first for us.Please don't tell the invasive species watchdogs about our burning bush.

We are at the Portland Farmers' Market at Deering Oaks for some of the last mum sales of the season. Here until 1 PM...Come on by on this perfect park day...it's beautiful. There are an amazing amounts of veggies, meats, apple cider, and lots of organic stuff as well being offered by the farmers who have come to the Oaks this morning from all over southern and coastal Maine.

Another view in the park. I have a little time on my hands.

WOW! It's been over a month since I've posted. I promised myself I wouldn't complain about the heat after last winter. I will however make the observation that it is a little steamy out there. I will be making my return to the Wednesday Portland Farmers' Market. Consider yourselves warned!
