There's nothing that bad about using pine,just make sure it's well seasoned & don't use it all the time. Good for quick heat.

Don't be scammed. I got a call from an elderly lady In Duxbury.
She called a sweep to come out to look at her fire place doors that needed repairing. She asked him about cleaning her chimney. He told her that she needed a chemical cleaning because she had 3rd degree creosote. At the tune of $500. I'm going to take care of her tomorrow.
NO WAY, you don't get 3rd degree creosote in a fire place. You get that from a wood stove.
I haven't seen any 3rd degree in 6 or 7 years, the newer wood stoves burn a lot cleaner than the older ones.

There are sweeps out there who put the fear of a chimney fire into people just to sell you something you don't need. There one in pembroke who does it all the time,

If you feel like your getting scammed,chances you are.
Don't be afraid to get a 2nd opinion.

Don't waste your money! This is no substitute for getting your chimney cleaned. Also the main ingredient in this is TSP trisodium phosphate. You can get a box for 1/5 the price & it will last a lot longer. Use a 1/2 cup on a hot fire once a week. This will make a chimney cleaning a lot easier when you get it done.
