Really close to home on this one...

Terry Dale Wallace, 20, disappeared from Youngwood, Pennsylvania on November 17, 1982. (I have also seen him being described as disappearing from Greensburg, and it looks like the two boroughs were very close to each other.)

Terry Dale Wallace was born to parents Carole and David Wallace, of 623 N. Sixth Street. Terry graduated from Hempfield High School in Greensburg in 1980. He then found work at a grocery store called Young's Red n White Market on Route 119 in Youngwood, where he worked for two years.

Just about a month before Terry hit his 21st birthday, Terry would go for a drink at Crusan's Bar on South 4th Street. He was last seen leaving the bar around 11:20 p.m. on November 17, 1982. He was never seen again.

He left behind his wallet, identification, paycheck, and his 1968 Mustang, which rules against a "running away" theory in the case. His parents and friends insisted that Terry wouldn't have run off like that.

As for Terry's mental state, Carol Wallace did note that Terry may have struggled with the recent death of his uncle, but he was in good spirits that the last time she saw him on November 16th.

The police did state that they believed foul play was likely involved in Terry's disappearance as he "just vanished" and they couldn't really explain any reason he might have had for leaving voluntarily.

During the initial investigation, the Youngwood Police employed the use of 100 volunteers, bloodhounds, and a state police helicopter to try and find any clues to Terry's disappearance, but nothing came up. The Youngwood Police Chief Scott Adamson admitted that "We have more or less come to a dead end."

One theory that emerged centered around a mysterious girl that Terry was known to have been calling at the bar right before he disappeared. (Maybe on a pay phone?) He was seen by witnesses as talking on the phone to a female acquaintance approximately ten minutes before he left the bar. It does not look like they were ever able to figure out who the girl was.

Terry's parents were devastated, of course, and did what they could do to try and find Terry. They contacted all of his friends. They contacted family members to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas, in order to see if Terry may have traveled to visit them. He did not. Terry's parents even attempted to use a psychic from Jeanette, but did not gain any useful insight as to what happened to their son.

At the time Terry Wallace went missing, he was described as a 20-year old white male, standing approximately 5'6" tall and weighing 140 pounds. He had brown hair and blue eyes. Terry had a small scar under his chin, a jagged one on his knee, and another one on his wrist.

Terry Wallace was described as wearing a dark green hooded sweatshirt, a plaid flannel shirt, blue jeans and blue sneakers.

If you know anything about Terry Wallace's disappearance, you are directed to contact the Westmoreland County Detectives at 724-830-3287.

Natale and Mary Carbone purchased the original "Carbone's" building from the Jamison Coal and Coke Company during The Great Depression in Crabtree, Westmoreland County. Originally intended to be used as a pool hall, Mary began making delicious sandwiches and snacks at the request of the local patrons. After 80 years in business, Carbones closed on July 28, 2018.
