If you've sent a manager to training before and nothing changed, here's probably why.
Olivero, Bane, and Kopelman tracked managers who went through training and published the results in 1997. Training alone produced a 22% gain in productivity. Training followed by one-on-one coaching produced 88%.
Training tells someone what to do. Coaching is what happens the first time they have to do it and it doesn't go well.
Most programs sell you the 22% and call it development.
