Asking and listening carefully to the answers gives you valuable information that helps you relate to what is important to your prospect.

Also, even when you know the answer to your questions, remember this: when a sales person says something, the prospect thinks, "maybe it's true and maybe it's not." When a prospect says something, it's true for him.
