I was up early this morning, knowing I needed to write something down. When that happens, I have to get up because words will be gone in 2 hours.
So Hello 3:57 am! Here’s what was on my heart:
It’s time for Loving Leaders to stand up.
It’s time for us to shift standard leadership practices from fear to love.
Now.
This means standing more firmly and acting more boldly with Love, not fear, than ever before.
We know that leadership practices have always been dominated by fear. You've witnessed or experienced that fearful leadership and wondered what it will take to bring change.
But we can no longer wait for others to decide to turn from fear to love. We can’t wait for those in authority to say "Yes" to human-centered programs and initiatives for more loving leadership.
We can no longer wait for permission to be a Loving Leader.
We just need to do it.
It’s time to stop focusing on what we wish others would do, and it’s time to focus on what we can do and double down on leading with love.
Some of you may think, “I don’t know about this. There's nothing wrong with using fear. We need to keep people on their toes, or they’ll slack off. You can't trust people." Loving Leadership may seem like a bad idea. If this is you, then what I offer next is probably not for you.
But for many of you, it will resonate that it’s time to stand for more love and less fear, especially if...
-If you have been quietly leading with love and you are ready to expand your effort.
-If you are surrounded by fear-based leaders and know there’s a better way.
-If you are tired of waiting for your organization to decide to take a more loving and human approach.
-If you are a new leader watching seasoned leaders and thinking, I don’t want to lead like that.
-If you don’t want to scare, humiliate, or bully people.
-If you don’t want to overwhelm, use people up and cast them aside.
-If you want to uplift people so they know they belong, are seen, and can grow.
-If you want to create a respectful, trusting workplace for people to bring and do and be their very best.
-If you want to work with meaning toward a shared goal.
If that’s you, then I am with you, and it's time to shift the world of work.
