☀️ Ever look up and see a glowing ring around the sun—or bright spots on either side?
A recent news segment highlighted some of the sky’s most beautiful optical phenomena: sun halos, sundogs, and solar arcs.
These stunning effects happen when sunlight interacts with ice crystals high in the atmosphere, bending and reflecting light to create rings, bright flares, and rainbow-like patterns around the sun.
And yes—our namesake comes from one of them. 🌈🐕
A “sundog” is that bright spot you sometimes see flanking the sun, and it’s part of the same natural display that has inspired awe for centuries.
At Sundog Solar, we like to think there’s something fitting about that connection—because every day, we work with the sun to turn natural light into real power for homes and businesses across Maine.
Nature puts on the show.
We help you harness the energy behind it.
