CEDR Award Winner
Community Supporter- Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific

The recipient of this year’s Community Supporter Award, Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific, has demonstrated what it truly means to invest in the future of our region. Through Operation School Bell and a wide range of youth programs, this all-volunteer organization serves nearly 1,000 students each year across every public school district in Clatsop County and the Naselle School District in Washington. By providing clothing, school support, scholarships, athletic gear, foster care duffel bags, and access to arts and cultural experiences, they ensure that no child is left behind because of financial hardship.

What makes their impact even more remarkable is the depth of their commitment to community. Each year, they award scholarships to local graduating seniors and Clatsop Community College students pursuing careers in trades, healthcare, maritime industries, and other essential professions that keep our local economy strong. Over the past two years, they have also brought nearly 900 sixth-grade students to live performances at the Liberty Theater, creating enriching experiences that build creativity, confidence, and connection. Led by more than 100 dedicated volunteers, this organization delivers extraordinary impact with compassion, efficiency, and heart. Tonight, we are proud to recognize Assistance League of the Columbia Pacific as the recipient of the Community Supporter Award.

Business Leader of the Year- North County- Dwayne Smallwood-Bridge & Tunnel

Dwayne Smallwood has become one of the quiet but steady forces helping strengthen downtown Astoria. He has built a welcoming gathering space where locals and visitors connect, conversations happen, and community thrives. At the same time, Dwayne has built Bridge and Tunnel into one of the North Coast’s most respected beer destinations, curating an exceptional and ever-changing selection from around the world while maintaining the warmth and familiarity of a neighborhood gathering place. His leadership blends hospitality, culture, and generosity in a way that invites people to linger, connect, and return again and again. For his dedication to downtown Astoria, his support of local people and events, and his lasting impact on the community, Dwayne Smallwood is a deserving recipient of the Business Leader of the Year Award.

New Business- North County- Astoria Art Mart

Astoria Art Mart began as a holiday pop-up in the former Astoria Visual Arts space, and in a short time has grown into a vibrant creative hub celebrating the talent and spirit of Clatsop County’s artists and makers. Co-founders Angela Raines and Heather July Goguen have created a one-of-a-kind space featuring work from more than 25 local artists, blending the experience of an art gallery and a community marketplace into something truly special.

What makes Astoria Art Mart stand apart is its commitment to artists and community. Every artist keeps 100 percent of their sales, while also contributing their time, creativity, and collaboration to help the store thrive. The shop is built by artists, for artists. More than a retail space, Astoria Art Mart has become a place for experimentation, connection, and opportunity — strengthening the local creative economy and enriching our community in the process.
