First overnight away from Remy!
Thank you nanny extraordinary and for caring for my babe.

My travel partner and I had an amazing time at the party celebrating the 5 yr anniversary of book Decolonizing Wealth.

Saw and met so many good people working for liberation and justice.

Heading home tired and refreshed. Can’t wait to snuggle my baby in a few hrs.

Norway!!
4 1/2 years ago I made my first pilgrimage to the motherland of Norway. I came to meet my great great grandmother Louise’s family.

It was a wonderful trip, now I am back bringing my daughter to also meet them. The plane trip was definitely brutal. Remy is a party that just won’t quit 😩

Last week I attended a phenomenal conference DEI in the Nordics by and met with some of my BBC Seattle racial equity colleagues and .

It’s so damn family friendly, despite having so much luggage that I almost can’t stand it I feel at ease being here with a small child. I’m also here with our beloved au pair who I am so grateful to have in Remys life.

More to come in stories.

You asked, and we listened …

During the sessions we hosted earlier this year, we heard your requests for more time and space to really explore and deepen your understanding of the 10 principles of Community-Centric Fundraising, so we’re providing exactly that in our upcoming 8-month Intensive.

This intensive is for white women in nonprofits who are committed to anti-racism and want to leverage their roles within their organizations, and the sector overall, for racial justice.

Co-facilitators and will be hosting two free virtual events to give you more information about what to expect from this intensive, and to answer any of your questions.

Join us ( and ) for an InstaLive session tomorrow, Wed, Feb 8th at 10:30am PST.

Join us 🔴LIVE tomorrow here on Instagram. We’ll be chatting about how the first sessions of our trainings went, the inspiration behind offering these trainings, and what to expect when you enroll in one of this month’s sessions. Bring us any questions you’ve got about this training series, and we’ll be more than happy to answer them.

We look forward to seeing you there!

It’s not about not having feelings—that doesn’t work. The key question for white women is when and with whom do we share our feelings and tears?

😬White women tears often deflect from the responsibility and work at hand. Things begin revolving around caring about someone who’s having feelings, instead of upholding them to their highest and asking them to be accountable for their impact.

🚩Spaces such as race-based caucusing and white women’s groups are good places for us to be emotional messes—as long as we’re not being coddled at the same time. But even in these spaces, we need to be responsible when we’re emoting and taking up space—we don’t have to do it for everyone to bear witness, or give energy to it.

❤️When we do this, we can ensure we’re showing up in spaces—especially with BIPOC folks or where racial equity work is being done—as our best selves and not bringing in our garbage (racism, bias, white fragility, etc.).
Fleur Larsen (she/her/hers) is a facilitator focused on equity, racial justice, and community development. She pushes for more accountability from white women. Check out link in bio for more resources and info.

Slide #1 (title)

Why white women’s tears (and feelings) are disruptive to racial justice

• They deflect and distract others from antiracism work
•They shift the focus away from holding women women accountable
• They can bring up negative memories or associations for BIPOC folks
• They are a reminder of the systemic oppression that still exists today and white women’s complacency in it all
• They prevent multiracial spaces from being real and authentic

Join and me for tomorrow’s instalive on our upcoming training ‘Disrupting Racism in the moment’.

This can be one of the trickiest things to do for both white folks and BIPOC (although for different reasons).

I know for myself, working through the fear of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time has enabled me to use my voice even if it shakes.

If you are committed to racial justice, join us for this important conversation and skill building training.

Michelle and I are so excited about our upcoming training this Wednesday.!

We will be inviting white women to leverage their keeping status for racial equity, in all the ways that are most needed.

For the afternoon in the BIPOC training will be talking about how white nonsense like gatekeeping power, and hoarding, show up and what to do about it.
We’ve got lots to talk about and get to so we hope you can join us. Link in the bio.
