Green Diamond is hiring an Inventory Forester to join its Planning & Inventory team in Humboldt County, California.

This role offers a unique blend of field and office work, supporting sustainable forest management through timber cruising, inventory analysis, GIS mapping, and remote sensing technologies. Responsibilities include collecting and maintaining forest inventory data, conducting stand assessments, utilizing aerial imagery and LiDAR, preparing maps, and collaborating with professionals across the organization.

Based in Korbel, California, the Inventory Forester will play an important role in providing the reliable information needed to guide long-term management of Green Diamond's California timberlands. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a forestry or natural resources background who enjoy both working outdoors and applying data and technology to real-world forest management challenges.

It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our colleague Jason Ensign, a mechanic and equipment operator, who died in the line of duty on August 6, 2026, while supporting firefighting operations at the Wrights Spring Fire in Oregon.

At the time of the incident, Jason was operating a dozer near the Yahwee Plateau, helping crews construct fire lines and improve access ahead of the advancing fire. Jason’s dedication, skill, and commitment to supporting wildfire response efforts reflected the professionalism he brought to his work. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, loved ones, and colleagues as we mourn this tragic loss and remember his lasting impact.

The incident remains under investigation, and we will respect that process as officials work to determine the full circumstances. For now, we join all who knew Jason in honoring his life, service and contributions.

Recovery starts with a single seedling. A contractor chooses a tree to plant as part of the ongoing effort to reforest Green Diamond lands affected by the 2021 Bootleg Fire near Klamath Falls, Oregon. Years after the fire, there is a continued investment in the future of these forests, one seedling, one acre, and one season at a time.

Happy Arbor Day!

Planting trees today means stronger forests tomorrow. Arbor Day reminds us why replanting, stewardship, and long-term care matter so much. In 2025, we planted over 8 million trees as part of our commitment to sustainable forestry and healthy working forests.

Today we celebrate new growth, strong roots, and the forests we’re proud to care for.
