Today, we recognize the first Women’s Retirement Security Day, a national effort to bring attention to an issue that impacts millions: women’s retirement readiness.
Across industries and communities, women continue to face unique challenges when preparing for retirement. Today, women’s median 401(k) balance is approximately 65% lower than men’s, and annual retirement contributions are about 43% lower. Combined with lower lifetime earnings, career pauses for caregiving, and longer life expectancies, with women living on average over five years longer than men, the result is a persistent retirement savings gap that deserves awareness, conversation, and action.
Today is about shining a light on that gap and working together to close it.
Women’s Retirement Security Day brings together employers, financial professionals, policymakers, and advocates to elevate the importance of long term financial wellness and empower women with the tools and knowledge needed to plan with confidence.
Because while starting early can make a difference, it is never too late to take steps toward a more secure future. Financial confidence is built through access to education, open conversations, and supportive communities, and even small actions today can lead to meaningful change tomorrow.
At LRS, we are proud to stand behind this important initiative. As a women-owned company that champions retirement, we are committed to supporting individuals with the guidance, resources, and solutions needed to build stronger, more secure financial futures.
