Do you have a big goal? What are you practicing to get there?

Eleven years ago, I reached the summit of Mount Rainier. Have you ever been to the Puget Sound region? Mount Rainier—often referred to as just “the Mountain”--looms large on the horizon. Of course, on some days, it is cloaked in clouds - but when the air clears and the mountain emerges it almo...

Are you considering what this post lockdown work environment will look like? Are you responsible for defining that for your team? Here's an article with some questions to consider as you evaluate your options. What questions would you add?

What will we go to when moving to a hybrid work format of working both remotely and in person, and what are the challenges that we might expect to see? The topic is widely discussed in many places, and the answers are emerging, but not set in stone yet. The following aims to provide an overview of w...

Wondering about ways to elicit feedback? Here's an idea from Adam Grant:

"When people hesitate to give honest feedback on an idea, draft, or performance, I ask for a 0-10 score.
No one ever says 10. Then I ask how I can get closer to a 10.
It motivates them to start coaching me – and motivates me to be coachable. I want to learn how to close the gap."

This quote comes from James Clear's weekly newsletter:

"A brief guide to improvement:
1) Lots of research. Explore widely and see what is possible.
2) Lots of iterations. Focus on one thing, but do it in different ways. Refine your method.
3) Lots of repetitions. Stick with your method until it stops working.
Research. Iterate. Repeat."

What do you want to get better at?
What do you want to explore?
What do you want to practice?

Are you feeling overwhelmed with information explosion? Check this out from James Clear:
"Be "selectively ignorant."
Ignore topics that drain your attention.
Unfollow people that drain your energy.
Abandon projects that drain your time.
Do not keep up with it all. The more selectively ignorant you become, the more broadly knowledgable you can be."

Another nugget of wisdom from James Clear: "Lack of confidence kills more dreams than lack of ability.
Talent matters—especially at elite levels—but people talk themselves out of giving their best effort long before talent becomes the limiting factor.
You're capable of more than you know. Don't be your own bottleneck."

Where are you limiting yourself?

Sometimes, we have a hard time making decisions especially when we're stressed. Either/Or decisions can be some of the most challenging to move past. The Heath Brothers have these questions to help people make better decisions. The book "Decisive" is also a worthwhile read. I'd love to hear how these questions resonate with you.
