Seattle voters want better results — not just bigger budgets.

By a 15-point margin, voters prefer the city focus on delivering better outcomes with existing resources rather than raising new taxes.

The Seattle Metro Chamber led a Study Mission to Portland to explore how a Pacific Northwest peer city is navigating many of the same opportunities and challenges we face here in Seattle—and what we can learn from their approach.

Over two days, we experienced how Portland is reimagining its urban core through downtown activation and placemaking, investing in infrastructure like PDX’s transformative terminal expansion, and advancing bold economic strategies—from the Silicon Forest’s globally recognized semiconductor ecosystem to mass timber manufacturing and food innovation.

We connected directly with business and civic leaders, gaining insight into how public-private partnerships, innovation hubs, and community-led redevelopment efforts are strengthening regional competitiveness and economic resilience.

Grateful to the Portland Metro Chamber and all our partners for the warm welcome and shared learning. We’re heading back to Seattle inspired, energized, and ready to turn these insights into action for our region.

Seattle voters remain divided on key public safety tools.

Seattle voters remain divided on the use of street cameras and laws that would restrict individuals from returning to areas where they have committed crimes.

The split reflects a broader tension between public safety tools and concerns about privacy, fairness, and effectiveness.
