For too many Seattle businesses, staying open is getting harder.

A new Seattle Medium story shares the experiences of business owners facing rising costs, public safety challenges and growing pressure just to keep their doors open. Their stories echo our 2026 Business Climate Survey, where 56% of respondents said Seattle’s business climate has worsened and 47% said they had seriously considered moving operations, jobs or investment elsewhere.

As our President & CEO Joe Nguyễn said, this should be both a wake-up call and a roadmap. Businesses are telling us what they need, and now is the time to listen and act.
