🚒🔥 Washington Hook & Ladder would like to congratulate Probationary Firefighter Mriam S. Awad on being awarded the Bryan Hennig 2026 Scholarship at the 110th Annual Convention of the NY & NJ Volunteer Firemen’s Association on Friday night, June 5, 2026! 🎉👏

The scholarship is presented in memory of Bryan Hennig — former President of the NY & NJ Volunteer Firemen’s Association, former Bergen County Fire Marshal, and former Chief of Department of the Lyndhurst Fire Department — whose leadership and dedication to the fire service continue to inspire firefighters throughout the region. 🚨🧑‍🚒

We are incredibly proud of Mriam and all of her hard work, dedication, and commitment to the fire service. Congratulations on this amazing achievement and well-deserved recognition! 👏🔥🚒

At the June Company Meeting on Thursday, June 4, 2026, the members of Washington Hook & Ladder proudly presented a memorial plaque and donation to the members of Secaucus Memorial VFW Post #3776 in honor of former firefighter and U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran Frank “Frankie” Baer. 🇺🇸🚒🇺🇸

Frankie dedicated more than 30 years of service to Washington Hook & Ladder and was a proud member of the Secaucus community. After courageously battling pancreatic cancer, Frankie passed away in 2024, but his legacy of service, brotherhood, and dedication will never be forgotten. ❤️🖤🏍️

We are honored to continue remembering Frankie and supporting the organizations that meant so much to him. 🙏🇺🇸🚒

🚒 Proud to introduce Squad 2 — now housed at Washington Hook and Ladder Co. #1.

💧 Equipped with a 70-gallon poly water tank, a Darley-Davey high-pressure firefighting pump, 6.5 HP engine, hose storage compartment, and rear rescue/tailgate area, Squad 2 gives us a versatile response platform for difficult terrain, brush fires, remote access incidents, and specialized emergency operations. 🌲🔥🛠️

🏞️ This unit will greatly enhance our capabilities around the Laurel Hill Park area and during out-of-the-ordinary scenarios where mobility and rapid deployment are critical. 🚨

🤝 This capability was made possible through the FY24 Project SHSP CBRNE Grant in coordination with Hudson County Office of Emergency Management.

Tomorrow is Primary Election Day. Polls will be open from 6:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M.

📍 Washington Hook & Ladder will be serving as a polling location throughout the day.

Please expect increased foot traffic and activity in the surrounding area. We ask everyone to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution around pedestrians and vehicles near the polling site.
