It’s not the money you want… It’s what you think your life will feel like when you have it. But, what if money won’t make you feel that way?

When I sold my first business, I had more money hit my account than my father and grandfather made in their entire lives combined.

I was 30 years old when the deal closed. Rather than feeling accomplished… I felt like I did before. Restless, unsatisfied, and unfinished.

I’ve been asked before if there was a number that would have been “enough?”

No… money is just paper.

All it does is turn “no’s” into “yes’s”

But, “yes’s” aren’t what make you happy…

That’s the lie they sell you as a kid. That one day, you will work really hard and be able to buy all of the things other people cannot buy… and then you’ll be happy.

The funny thing is… nobody actually says that last part.

Think back… did they ever promise you happiness?

That’s the irony of it all. A globe full of people chasing a promise that will never be delivered on in the way they are expecting it to.

It typically doesn’t hit them until they get closer.

Usually, it’s as you cross the 5M mark.

You were expecting to feel at peace knowing that you are sitting on 5M.

But, there’s no peace... Safety and security, sure… but peace? No.

Peace comes to those who find their purpose.
Wholeness comes to those who discover how to use their purpose to help the people they were sent here to help.
Legacy comes to those who get to watch the impact you made live on far past your time here.

Similarly to my father... I hate myself. Now, obviously, I know that’s impossible as selves don’t have the ability to hate anything or anyone. But, what if you spend most of your time identifying as someone who isn’t you?

At 9 years old, the Mormon church taught me to hate myself. I know this wasn’t their intent... but, it happened. I forgive them... However, I’m still living with the consequences and paying therapists and coaches hundreds of thousands to recover (I wonder if the church will reimburse me?).

Now, I’m not shifting blame here. In the end, I chose to believe the things that they were saying about me (although, at 9 does it really feel like a choice?).

Besides INdesign, everything I have accomplished prior was from a place of darkness - To make sure that nobody could say anything bad about me.

But, in the end, it didn’t work. I knew it was all a lie. The compliments and accolades meant nothing to me. I was casting a spell on them... and I knew it.

I share this to expose something that needs to be talked about. I have had the luxury of hanging around some pretty incredible entrepreneurs. 99% of them are F*kd up beyond belief. Sure, a few of them love who they are and stay true to self... But, that’s not the majority.

Most of them have now arrived there finally, but it was not without a ton of work.

If you’re not falling for your own BS... You’re not alone... And, it’s never too late to change.

There was a time when money was enough to compensate me for stealing hours from my life. But, those days are gone. There’s too much to expereince… and doing things I dont want to do just get’s in the way.

I still have businesses that I’m involved in. And, I rarely have a week where I’m not using 40-60 hours of my life to accomplish the business’s missions. But, it’s not work… it’s self-expression.

I was an angry kid, teenager, young adult, and grown adult. I couldn’t understand why I was so disgruntled. By age 29, I was already worth a few million dollars. I had purchased everything I had always wanted. But, I was still restless, bored, and discontent (Honestly, I felt more alive when I was broke).

There was even a short time when I gave up and gave in to the monotony. Put my head down and just made money like everyone else. But, that only lasted 5 months… I’m just not the kind of guy to settle for a false sense of accomplishment.

All I was doing was making money using a license that was invented by the government, selling a product backed and regulated by the government, and convincing other people to send me referrals… I was a fake entrepreneur. At any moment, the system could change and I would be without an income.

Eventually, I cracked the code.

It wasn’t that I was depressed. It wasn’t even that I hated my job… It just simply wasn’t enough for me. I always wanted to make a real difference. To do work that was truly unique and could not be replicated by anyone else but me.

Sure, you could say that I now have businesses that require me to be there. But, it’s not work to me. This is what I’d be doing whether I got paid or not.

The money wasn’t what took the pain away… it was turning my purpose into my career that finally brought me peace.

I have 6 businesses currently… but not because I want 6.

There always seems to be a point at which a business becomes unenjoyable. Either the staffing becomes a challenge, the risk becomes too large, or my involvement turns into something I never wanted to do.

None of my businesses are operating at their full financial potential. This is intentional. I grow the business until it becomes unenjoyable. From there, I back off until it becomes enjoyable again.

Rather than growing them into something that annoys me just to satisfy my financial desires… I just opened other businesses instead.

I have 6 of them because I’d rather own 6 that I enjoy than one I hate.

There’s so much advice out there. But, is it good advice?

That depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.

For me, I wanted to spend my days doing only the things that I wanted to do.

Work I enjoy. Hobbies that light me up. Time to build exciting businesses. Time with my family. Time with myself.

Most of the pop culture advice was not going to take me there anytime soon.

“Never satisfied. Always hungry”
“Nobody cares. Work harder”
“Sacrificing your life now for a better life later”

As a boy, it seemed to me that these approaches were broken.

I wanted to feel content. At peace.

I wanted to enjoy my life NOW… and later.

My greatest gift is not listening to other people unless I feel like they know how to take me where I want to go.

The hustle culture in this country is a real thing. It tortures people with the promise of “happiness later.”

What about happiness now?

There’s a wall people hit as they approach a seven-figure income… It usually kicks in around $600k.

Eventually, they will hire an expensive business coach to help them “break through the plateau.”

This coaching experience is far more pivotal than people realize as it sets the tone for the next few years.

When you are in a vulnerable position asking for help… the person helping you will have a significant impact on how you see things and what you choose to do in life and in business.

We can blame the coach, but it really comes down to you and what you believe will solve your problem.

If you just want to “break through the plateau” and increase your income… you’ll find a way to do it.

But, if you want to start reaping the benefits of entrepreneurship… That’s a very different road.

As a young man, I never wanted to make lots of money…

The only reason I needed the money was to put myself in a position where I had the free time to think and create the life and career of my dreams.

So, the moment I had an income that could support that, I focused on one thing…

Making time to think.

You see, getting everything you want is not about just making more money. It’s about making decisions that will actually get you there.

It’s often difficult to explain to Loan Officers what my coaching program does.

There are some people who get it instantly… and others who look at me like I’m crazy.

What I’ve found is that my coaching program is not for Loan Officers… It’s for people who want to live an epic life and leave a legacy that people remember.

How do you get that life? Make good decisions.

If you become obsessed with the science behind making decisions, you won’t need a coach to help you… you will be able to coach yourself.

That is self-mastery and I wish more people would spend their time doing it rather than expecting the money to get them there.

11/12/2024

I won’t lie to you… not all of the LOs that I coach are still thriving.

But, the ones who are, have three things in common:

1️⃣ Confidence

Without confidence… can you ever really take your foot off the gas? Seriously though, think about all of the confident Loan Officers you know… Year after year they continue to capture more and more market share.

Why?

Their personal brand means more than the other Loan Officers in their market. They know who they are and what makes them unique… and their Realtor partners know it too.

2️⃣ A Strong Sense Of Self

Do you know what your unique abilities are?

Can you articulate your uniqueness and explain it to others?

If you can’t, your business will suffer as a consequence.

Without a strong sense of self, you’re very forgettable. Just one more LO who wants more money. It’s easy to use another Loan Officer when you all look the same.

Self-mastery isn't just for monks. It’s how you become your best self.

In the world today, self-mastery has become the new scarcity. Everyone is looking for their purpose and wondering how they can monetize it.

If you are one of the few who has it figured out… you will be the clear winner.

3️⃣ A Clear Direction

It’s attractive when you know exactly what you’re trying to achieve. It’s even more attractive when you have a plan that will take you there.

I know it seems odd… Why would YOU knowing what YOU want to achieve make other people want to send you business?

Because people love to support those who are making an impact with their lives.

Why would you send business to a Loan Officer who is just trying to make enough money to retire and stop being a Loan Officer?

✅ How do you leverage these 3 skills to make more money?

It’s quite simple…

SHOW THEM!

Social media, emails, live events, etc… All of these are platforms that allow you to show people who you are, why you are working so hard, and what it is that you want to accomplish with your life.

If all you are doing is making money and spending money… Don’t expect other people to care about you.

Find your purpose… and turn it into your personal brand.

This guy earned 3 stars! THREE Michelin stars! There are only 137 in the world.

Lauren and I love carefully crafted culinary experiences.

From the moment we parked our car in the parking lot, we noticed them preparing to open the front door for us.

The bathroom is cleaned after each guest.

Every plate is placed at the same exact time.

I swear there was a hidden microphone, as each comment we made was somehow acted on by one of the staff members.

We don’t eat out much, but when we do… we go big.

We’ve never been to a 3 Michelin star restaurant before, and now I see why few restaurants are able to earn and maintain such an honor.

If you get the chance… I highly recommend the experience.

Once you’ve grown accustomed to making north of 50K a month… it’s hard to go backward.

Loan Officers are feeling it right now.

And, they will probably keep feeling the pain if they don’t change their tune.

If you care about your mortgage business…

And, you’ve been investing in your growth over the past few years…

My guess is that you have everything implemented that can be implemented.

There’s this belief out there that new marketing strategies are going to make loans fall in your lap… They won't.

Business is business.

There’s only so much you can do to generate brand awareness, market your services, and educate your audience.

To be honest… I think the market is oversaturated with Loan Officers using strategies to get loans.

There’s a natural flow of things if you are trying to become successful.

1. You need to get good at closing loans and impressing your referral partners (but, my hope is that you have this down already)
2. You need to understand how to scale your business so that you can eventually remove yourself from the day-to-day operations (all of the coaches out there can teach you how to do this).
3. Then, you need to work on your ability to lead others (or hire someone who can).

If you have not yet educated yourself on the three steps above… stop reading and get to work.

However, if you have been coached by the various coaches, gone to the conferences, and signed up for all of the shiny objects…

I hate to break it to you…

You are probably the problem, NOT the lack of knowledge, tactics, or strategies.

This is a common problem (and why most LOs struggle to consistently make more than 50k/mo).

If you’re interested, I have a coaching approach that might help you get over this hump.

10/30/2024

I can live in the US now, but I’ve done enough internal work to get to that point.

In my 20s, living in the United States was pure hell.

My pathological desire to be superior, respected, and admired was the core of the issue.

As a boy who often questioned his value, I cared very much about becoming someone people considered impressive. I paid close attention to successful men who people admired. They always seemed to be in superior positions and had more money than other men.

So, when I started chasing career success, I used these men as my measure of how successful I was.

The competitive male culture in the US wrecked me.

I was convinced that life was meaningless if you were not one of “the best.” I felt constant pressure to get better every day: better looking, smarter, to buy more, have more, be more. The pressure to succeed started the moment I woke up in the morning. Obsessing, daydreaming, planning, strategizing, learning, and thoughts of improving filled my mind.

I was a machine seeking attention, validation, control, wealth, and superiority. There was nothing human about me. And because this world is made for humans, I could never seem to make it work for me. There always seemed to be something missing . . . my humanity.

Now that I’m human again, I can live in the US. I know the difference now… between playing the game and allowing it to play you.

Lauren and I have been traveling the world full-time for five years now. However, we are one month away from calling it quits.

It was a fun five years. We lived in over 12 countries, visited an additional three, and had some cultural experiences we will never forget.

But, like all things… it gets old.

Originally, I wanted financial freedom.

So, I built my business to the point where I no longer had to worry about money.

Then, I wanted time freedom.

So, I set up a team and built systems that allowed me to remove myself from the day-to-day operations.

But, I found myself bored, restless, and discontent.

What did I need all of this money and time for?

This was what prompted me to sell the house and travel the world living out of Airbnbs. My thought was that I needed to have more life experiences, and that would make me happy.

But, about 1 year into our travels, I was even more empty inside than ever before.

Money freedom, time freedom, and location freedom.

It scares me how many people are banking on these freedoms to “make them happy.”

They won’t.

Ask anyone who has these freedoms and they will all tell you that it was not the freedom that brought them peace…

It was what they did AFTER the freedom that brought them the fulfillment they were seeking.

The sad part is that most people don’t ever do the “after” part.

This isn’t because they don’t want to… It’s because they don’t know how.

So much of their identity was lost in the decades of accumulating wealth that they have forgotten who they are (or, they never really knew who they were).

This slows people down.

It’s your true self (your purpose, your calling) that provides you with the things you need to be successful.

Confidence, motivation, and a clear direction.

Without a strong sense of self… financial freedom and time freedom are useless.

P.s. I’m hosting my next INdesign event here in Arizona very soon. If you’ve been lacking the confidence and motivation required to make you more successful… I might be able to help you. Send me a DM and let's jump on a Zoom.

“Adding value” to borrowers?
Helping them “achieve the dream of homeownership.”

Who comes up with this stuff?

I’ve never once heard a person at a party talking about how much value their Loan Officer added to their life. Or, how they are hoping to achieve the dream of homeownership…

Nike, Apple, Lululemon… The biggest brands out there never “add value.”

So why do Loan Officers and other professionals think it works?

Listen…

When people buy a home, they choose the Loan Officer they like most.

The one who they feel is the most like them.

The one who they relate to most.

I promise you that the only people watching your mortgage videos are other Loan Officers.

The fact is that people don't want to learn about mortgages.

All of the 100M+ producers you see making videos were 100M producers before they were making videos on social media.

I coach some of the top LOs in the country…

The game hasn't changed.

If anything, it has gone back to where things were in the 1950s and 60s.

Back when being a good person living an inspiring life was how you earned people's trust.

There are too many LOs “adding value” online.

To the point where it has turned into spam… not value.

I’ve got a system that works.

A personal branding system that actually brings in loans.

Yes, I charge $9,000… But, it’s because I turn that 9K into 30 in less than 12 months.

Send me a DM if you want to jump on a Zoom call.

Maybe this system is the one you have been looking for?

P.s. I have 2 spots open this month. Those two people will be coming to my next event at my new home is Sedona. It will be a killer event and you won't want to miss it.
