Sustainable Arizona Improving the Quality of Life for All

01/28/2025

If you have searched for SustainableArizona.org, you will notice that it has been discontinued. When we created Sustainable Arizona more than 20 years ago, we assumed (wrongly, it turns out) that some younger people would want to become engaged in driving our communities towards a more sustainable future. I got involved in sustainable development right after the UNEP meeting in 1987. It's time I moved aside and let others take over the work. But no one has shown up. I've kept Sustainable Arizona alive for several years. It's a trademarked, nonprofit with strong name recognition. But, if no one is interested in taking it over - I'm going to shut it down.

On Martin Luther King's birthday, it's worth taking time to think about how Dr. King would relate to our world today. Here's an article by a man who has been part to the effort towards sustainable development for decades. We used to chat about practices 30 years ago leading up to the first Earth Summit in Rio. Interesting how pertinent those discussion would be today.

A lesson about a great leader began at age 13.

The little known OECD Development Assistance Committee helps set international standards for financial aid. Japan wants its policies to favor the fossil fuel industry.

So, this governor cheats to win his election, but perhaps he understands that the Okefenokee is too valuable to the people of Georgia to give away to a few miners.

TAKE ACTION! Please join me in asking Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to save the Okefenokee Swamp from a dangerous mining proposal.

With your help, we can turn Japan into a climate leader. Please take a moment and urge the Prime Minister to stop Japanese coal finance.
