Sometimes internal discomfort is your nervous system stuck in survival mode.

And sometimes it’s a protective part carrying emotions that never felt safe to express.

Here’s a simple way to notice the difference:

Try a few grounding or somatic exercises:

* dead arm swings
* gentle shaking
* rubbing the arms to create warmth and presence
* a simple tai chi movement: shifting your hips side to side and letting your arms follow
* feeling your feet on the floor

Notice what happens afterward.

If your anxiety softens, your body may have needed regulation.

If nothing really changes…

there may be a deeper part of you needing attention, safety, or expression — not just calming techniques.

That’s why I created my free guide:
“5 Signs Your Shadow Is Affecting Your Spiritual Practice.”

If you’ve been doing all the “right” spiritual practices but still feel off underneath, this guide may help you understand why.

Inside, I also share a simple orienting practice to help your nervous system come back into the present moment.

Not all internal discomfort needs the same tools to shift.

Some needs a specific movement to be released and some needs to be listened to and witnessed.

Type 5 below and I’ll send you my guide,

Most people avoid it for two reasons.

They think focusing on the negative will create more of it.

Or they’re afraid their darkness will swallow them whole if they look too closely.

Both are understandable. Neither is actually true.

Here’s what shadow work really is —
It’s simply turning toward the parts of yourself you’ve been taught to hide, suppress, or pretend aren’t there.

Not to dwell in them. Not to be consumed by them.

Just to finally see them clearly.

Because what stays in the dark doesn’t disappear.

It just operates without your awareness and shows up in your reactions.

It’s in your patterns and also in your relationships.

The gap between who you want to be and how you actually behave under pressure.

The shadow isn’t your enemy.

It’s the part of you still waiting for enough safety to be seen.

Have you ever noticed this:

You leave the conversation feeling somehow less than.

Like your pain was too heavy for their frequency.

Like your questions were blocking your own blessings.

Like you should have been further along by now.

And the confusing part — they seemed so loving. So evolved. So full of light.

So why did you feel so alone afterward?

You’re not too much. You’re not ‘just negative’. You’re not out of alignment…

You encountered something that happens more than anyone talks about —
Spiritual development without shadow work.

Light without depth. Expansion without integration.

Awakening without accountability.

It looks like consciousness from the outside.

But it feels like invisibility from where you’re standing.

Real presence — the kind that actually heals — doesn’t make you feel like your pain is inconvenient.

It makes you feel like your darkness is a part of a human experience.

Because truly conscious people know that’s where the real work lives.

Not in the bliss. Not in chasing high vibes and denying what’s really happening within us.

It’s in building capacity for discomfort and vulnerability…

…in willingness to sit with someone exactly where they are without needing them to be further along for your own comfort.

If you’ve felt this — you’re not alone.

And it’s not a reflection of your vibration.
It’s a reflection of theirs.

“why do people keep doing this to me” and start asking “what part of me keeps choosing this, allowing this, creating this?”

Everyone’s trying to activate their pineal gland and nobody explains what needs to happen first.

The missing piece isn’t another activation technique.

It’s capacity.

Pineal gland activation without this first is like pouring water into a broken cup.

Swipe to understand why expansion without nervous system capacity is not sustainable.

Have you experienced breakthroughs that didn’t stick?

This might be why. Tell me in the comments.

4 ways we interrupt stress responses (and keep them stuck):

1. We process it spiritually too fast“What’s the lesson? Which chakra is off?”We analyze, journal, try to make meaning…
But instead of letting the feeling move, we intellectualize it.

So we spend two hours trying to ‘understand’ where we could’ve possibly picked it up…

… because it ‘definitely feels like someone else’s stuff’.

But not everything is a lesson. Sometimes it’s just physiology.

2. We distract ourselves right at the peak.
Sometimes the intensity of discomfort can be terrifying.

Labeling it as ‘low vibes’, we reach for crystals and sage to ‘cleanse that weird heavy energy’.

If that doesn’t work, we call in Archangel Michael to rescue us (I know I did this a lot).

But sometimes the body just needed 30 more seconds to complete the cycle.

3. We jump to “high vibe”
I choose love. I choose expansion. I am not this feeling.

And within seconds we’re chanting our go-to mantras, repeating affirmations, or playing frequency music…

It fades — but fading isn’t completion.

What doesn’t get completed in the nervous system tends to keep resurfacing — often as tight shoulders, digestive issues (bloating, IBS-like symptoms), low energy, brain fog, irritability, poor sleep, and that constant feeling of being wired but exhausted.

4. We judge ourselves for feeling it.
I shouldn’t feel this way. This is so stupid. Why can’t I just get over it. This is not how conscious people respond - I should be able to handle this differently.

That internal talk sends your body one clear signal — this isn’t safe to feel. And so it stores it instead of releasing it.

The most spiritual thing you can do in that moment is to actually listen to your body and let the stress wave break.

Save this — your nervous system will thank you next time stress rises.
