Corona Virus (covid-19) and Air Purifiers

The corona virus is an airborne virus that can live up to three hours in the air. The virus particles are small enough to pass through HEPA filters. Most HEPA filters are 99.7% efficient in removing particles down to 0.3 micros and thereafter becomes ineffective. Covid-19 particles are 0.06 to 0.14 microns and are not effected by HEPA filters.

UVC (ultraviolet germicidal) with PCO (Photocatalytic Oxidation) air purifier are a promising strong candidate and most effective at breaking microorganisms such as virus, bacteria and fungi. Although, no covid-19 samples are available for testing. UVC and PCOs are highly effective at neutralizing similar virus such as MS2 (common virus/influenza). A UV wavelength of 254nm are effective in damaging microorganism DNA and in combination of PCO system serves as dual role of photocatalyst and microbial disinfection leaving a more purified air. In addition, PCO air purifiers are self-generating with less maintenance and several years of service life.

We are hearing from the west coast with comments about the fires and to please expedite their air purifier parts. We are hearing about the orange and red sky. Videos of the disaster appear that it is nighttime but its because of the smoke. It is truly heartbreaking to see neighborhoods and towns the same as mine so devastated.

Such loss has left all of us deeply saddened. 😞
