Blackbuck antelope have to be one of my favorite species to mount with their beautiful markings. I mounted this buck for James Boutte on a Jetz Taxidermy Supply manikin.

An absolutely beautiful mount, this Lasalle County 8-pointer was killed by Michael Castillo and mounted on a McKenzie 6500 manikin.

When my neighbor Doug Epler brought in this Kennedy County buck he wasn’t going to mount it. But after seeing how worn the teeth were and aging it at 6+ years old he changed his mind. I came up with the frame idea to display with the mount to counter any naysayers. Mounted on a McKenzie 9800 wall pedestal.

This was my showpiece at the 2025 Texas Taxidermy Association show. It didn’t do as well as I had hoped but thought I’d share it anyway. These two bucks’s antlers were permanently locked. The buck on the top had died days before the bottom buck finally  succumbed. Together these giant South Texas bucks measured almost 400 inches of antler. The photo album documents the entire process from the day the deer were found to the completed mount. The album is bound in the same leather that covers the back of the bottom deer. This mount now resides at the ranch where they were found.
