Tornado risk tomorrow!
First, we have a substantial severe weather risk in place for northern & central portions of Indiana. The modeled environment at hand could be very volatile! We will see a LOT of wind shear to organize storms, spin to help storms rotate, and lift to get storms up and going / sustain themselves. The biggest question mark with tomorrow's event is storm fuel. Current forecast guidance suggest we have enough fuel to support significant severe weather including tornadoes, even a strong tornado.
NOTE, NOT everyone will see a tornado tomorrow. This map is highlighting areas who will potentially have the best probability tomorrow within 25 miles of any given location.
But as meteorologists and forecasters. we have to look at the big picture too. What we mean by this is that there is concern that we may deal with morning rain and clouds - especially across northern Indiana areas. If this happens, it may do two things to our risk.
1. It will create cloud cover and stabilize the atmosphere. This is not conducive to severe weather
2. It may shift the higher concern area to the south.
Despite seeing morning rain, models show us recovering back to unstable conditions in a short time, and the severe risk being displayed is contingent on seeing the atmosphere recover.
So bottom line is this. Models show a volatile environment once again for Wednesday evening, but there are a few things to watch that may inhibit a bigger threat from being realized, or ends up shifting the higher concern areas.
Plan for a significant severe weather event, but hope for the best possible outcome. Have ways to receive warnings and tune in to our live severe weather coverage here on Facebook or YouTube.
