Martin Schaffel grew up in South Florida and attended the University of Florida graduating with a degree in political science and another in business. After leaving the University of Florida in 1977, Marty started a company called Audio Visual Innovations which became the world’s largest reseller and integrator of display technology and video teleconferencing for meeting rooms, classrooms, stadiums and public spaces. He started the company with just $2,000 to his name. Annuals revenues will exceed 1.35 billion dollars this year. Marty sold 80% of the company in 2008 and the balance last year.
Marty is currently on the faculty of the University of Florida teaching entrepreneurship, leadership and organizational culture. He is also president of the American Saddlebred Horse Association.
