A sad day for sure...

Hammond Forestry Services has closed its doors after serving Western Washington forests since 2007. It's been great working with everyone, and having had the pleasure of having the best employees in the world.

We would like to thank everyone who gave us an opportunity to manage your forested lands and keep our state beautiful. Even though we are no longer in business, for us it will always be...

"It's all about the trees!"

One of the best things about being in forestry is that we get to see the Fall beauty exploding every day! πŸπŸŒ²πŸŒΏπŸ‚πŸπŸƒ

Well, today was the official "Last day of planting season 2018!!!" So many new forests were planted this year...beautiful Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar...too numerous to even count! The annual ceremonial trees were planted today by our crew, to signify the end of the season, which is always a special moment for them.

NOW HIRING! 1/18/18!! Got a strong back and a "GO! GO!" attitude? Like working outdoors, even in the weather? Hard work thats not for just anyone, but establishing and maintaining forested lands in Washington is what we do! Minimum wage to start...wage increases come based on performance, attendance and work ethic/attitude. Rain gear and caulk boots are really important, but if you dont have, we can work toward getting you some depending on your performance out there. If you have your own..perfect. A change of dry clothes is nice out there..also a good lunch. Gloves are nice...Red Ox, or the rubberized palm gloves work best..theyre gonna be soaked at the end of the day and will need to be dried out each night, so maybe an extra pair is something to think about when applying.. You will be provided with transportation to and from the work site, from a neutral pick up point. This sometimes varies, but for the most of the season it is one location downtown. You will also be provided an assortment of beverages to keep you hydrated. Even though its winter, you will still need to stay hydrated and we will provide bottled water, gatorade, iced tea...etc. Breakfast foods and lunch foods are sometimes provided, depending on what "The Boss" (my wife) puts in my thermoses for the day..its always good! As an employee on a forest crew, small creature comforts are important out there, and the comorodary of the crew is the lifeline..we all want the same thing...to make forests! Think this is for you? Call us! HFS 426-2374..leave a message of noone answers, or email us at hammondforestry.com to apply, just leave us contact info either way!

OK local FB friends and fam and Hammond Forestry supporters!!!......Its time for the Cinco de 5K run charity event for our local Saints Pantry food bank! Chris and I, and Hammond Forestry are once again silver sponsors of this event because we believe in OUR community! This is the 2nd annual event, and we are returning sponsors and will continue to do so. Once upon a time when our kids were little, we needed help...often. It was a constant battle. We couldnt get help from the state..."Chris made too much money"...yet we couldnt afford power or water at times...it was so hard. The Saints Pantry food bank saved us on more occaisions than I can count! That powdered milk fed my babies in their bottles, and I can make goulash 100 different ways out of the macaroni noodles and cans of tomato sauce that I got...believe that! And the frozen turkey legs were a Godsend! Long story short, we will always do what we can to support our local food bank...I stood in that line many a time, in the rain, with my babies....and they were there for me! Wont you please come down...bring canned/dried food donations, support the runners...join in on the raffles and browse the vendors? Also, its opening day for the local Shelton Farmers Market!! And y'all know how I feel about that! I was a vendor there myself for 7 years and loved it! Great bunch of folks who work hard to bring you theyre crafts of produce, jewelry, body products and more! Heres the add for the event as posted:
2nd Annual Cinco De 5k. $20 for pre-entry (before April 26th) and $25 (after April 26th and day of race). 7am check in. Best "Day of the Dead" costume wins prize! Sign up on Active.com under "2nd Annual Cinco De 5k".
