Waterproof reclaimed hardwood flooring

A Thermawood-USA Product

100% real reclaimed White Oak, Red Oak, and Antique Heart Pine — thermally modified for modern homes, concrete slabs, radiant heat, and high-moisture areas.

Our reclaimed hardwood flooring starts with American wood that’s already stood the test of time.
Some of these White Oak boards are over 100 years old before they ever enter our kilns.

Then we thermally modify the wood using only heat and steam in specialized oxygen-free kilns. No plastics. No chemical treatments. No fake waterproof coatings.

The result is reclaimed hardwood flooring with dramatically improved stability and moisture resistance while keeping the character, grain, texture, and history that made reclaimed wood desirable in the first place.

This is real reclaimed wood. Built for real life.

Available Species
Reclaimed White Oak

Our reclaimed White Oak comes from old American structures and barns, with many boards over 100 years old. Tight grain, rich texture, natural checking, and deep character make this one of the most sought-after reclaimed hardwood floors available.

Available in:

Smooth face
Circular saw marks
Skip planed
Dirty face / rustic texture options
Thermally modified reclaimed White Oak can be installed over concrete slabs and radiant heat systems with proper installation methods.

Reclaimed Red Oak

Reclaimed Red Oak offers warmer tones, bold grain movement, and classic American hardwood character. Thermal modification helps stabilize the wood for modern living while preserving the authentic reclaimed appearance.

Available in:

Smooth face
Circular saw texture
Skip planed rustic face
Perfect for homes wanting real reclaimed hardwood without the movement issues traditional reclaimed wood can experience.

Antique Heart Pine
Our Antique Heart Pine features dense old-growth pine with incredible color variation and natural character. Circular saw marks and skip-planed textures give these floors the worn-in look people try to imitate with fake distressing.

Available in:

Smooth face
Circular saw marks
Skip planed texture
Wide planks, long lengths, and deep amber tones make Antique Heart Pine ideal for coastal homes, farmhouses, cabins, and luxury rustic interiors.

What Makes It Different
Traditional reclaimed hardwood still reacts heavily to moisture changes.

Our thermally modified reclaimed hardwood goes through a process where the wood is heated to around 380° in oxygen-free kilns using only heat and steam. This permanently changes the wood itself by removing the organic material that attracts moisture.

Simply put:
No organic material = dramatically less cupping, swelling, and warping.

That’s why this reclaimed hardwood can be used in places traditional solid wood normally struggles:

Concrete slabs
Radiant heat
Kitchens
Coastal homes
High humidity environments
Real Reclaimed Wood — Not Fake Distressing
Most “reclaimed look” floors today are new wood made to imitate age.

This is the real thing.

Real saw marks.
Real grain.
Real aging.
Real reclaimed American hardwood.

Every board carries natural variation, texture, knots, movement, and history that cannot be duplicated by factory-made flooring.

Waterproof Reclaimed Hardwood Flooring

Waterproof Solid Hardwood Flooring

Thermawood-USA makes the only real solid hardwood flooring designed for concrete slabs, radiant heat, bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-moisture areas where traditional hardwood has always struggled.

Traditional solid hardwood absorbs moisture and naturally moves over time — causing cupping, warping, gaps, and floor failure.

That’s why most “waterproof wood flooring” today isn’t actually solid wood at all.

Thermawood-USA is different.

Using only heat and steam, the wood is permanently changed at the core by removing the organic material inside the wood that attracts moisture and causes movement in the first place.

Nothing is added to the wood.

Using specialized oxygen-free kilns, the wood is heated to around 380°. After a few days of "cooking" the wood is slowly cooled with steam. This locks in the changes to the wood from a cellular level.

This 4 day process removers the organic materials that cause typical to wood to cup and warp

No organic material = no cupping. No warping. Near-zero movement.

That’s it.

Now you have real solid hardwood flooring designed for concrete slabs, radiant heat, bathrooms, kitchens, and other places traditional hardwood was never trusted to go.

This isn’t some new idea either. Europe has used thermally modified wood for nearly 40 years.

Real wood for real life.

Solid Hardwood vs Engineered Flooring for Concrete Slabs

Can you install solid hardwood flooring over concrete slabs?
For years, the answer was no.
Today, that’s changed.
Moisture coming through a slab causes traditional solid wood to cup, warp, and fail.
That’s why engineered flooring became the standard for concrete installations.
But that’s starting to change.
Why Engineered Flooring Is Used on Concrete
Engineered flooring was designed out of necessity, with so many homes built on slabs from the 60s and 70s through today.
Engineered hardwood was designed to handle moisture better than solid wood.
Built with a plywood core
More stable than traditional hardwood
Common choice for concrete slabs and basements
That’s why most installers recommend engineered flooring when installing over concrete.
The Problem With Traditional Solid Hardwood
Traditional solid hardwood absorbs moisture from concrete.
When that happens:
boards expand and contract
cupping and warping start
floors fail over time
This is why solid hardwood flooring was avoided on concrete slabs for decades.
Thermally Modified Solid Hardwood for Concrete Slabs
Thermally modified wood changes how solid hardwood performs.
Using high heat and steam, the organic material inside the wood is removed.
No organic material = no cupping, no warping.
That allows solid hardwood flooring to be used in areas it traditionally could not:
directly over concrete slabs
over radiant heat systems
in high humidity environments
Solid Hardwood vs Engineered Flooring
Engineered Flooring
Lower cost ($4–$8 per sq. ft.)
Stable on concrete slabs
Limited refinishing
Thermally Modified Solid Hardwood
Premium solid hardwood
Priced in line with quality engineered flooring
100% solid wood
Wider planks (7″–11″)
Can be sanded and refinished for decades
Built for concrete slabs, radiant heat, and moisture
Which One Should You Choose?
If budget is the main concern, engineered flooring is a solid option for concrete.
If you want real solid hardwood flooring that can handle concrete slabs, moisture, and radiant heat, thermally modified solid hardwood is built for that.

Solid hardwood on concrete? We do it daily!
Throw everything you thought wood could or couldn't do out the window.

Thermawood-USA is changing how we look at wood. By using high heat and steam, Thermawood-USA removes the organic materials in the wood. Simply put:

No organic material = no cupping. No warping.

It’s that simple. The organic materials absorb moisture and water—remove it, and the wood no longer reacts to moisture in slabs or heat from your radiant heat system, 100% naturally changing the wood.

Imagine wide widths like an 11" White Oak running through your home, right on top of concrete or radiant heat. Thermawood-USA makes that possible.

Is this something new?
Sadly, no.

While we’ve been struggling here in the States with what materials we can and can’t use in modern homes and commercial builds, Europe has been using this process for nearly 40 years.

While we’ve been relying on LVP and engineered options.

Thermawood-USA is truly changing how we now look at wood for our projects—from bathrooms, even showers, throughout the entire home, to decking and cladding. Thermawood is recommended for it all.

So if you have been stuck on what products you can or can’t use on your new build or remodeling project, take a look at what Thermawood-USA is doing.

With 7" to 11" widths in White and Red Oak options, along with Antique Heart Pine, Cypress, and reclaimed hardwood options, there’s an option and look you’ll love.

Solid 3/4" hardwood floors… directly on concrete slabs.

Yeah — that’s real.

Traditional hardwood can’t do that.
This can.

We use heat and steam to change the wood at its core.
No organic material = no cupping, no warping.

That’s what makes it stable on slabs and radiant heat.

No special tricks. No v***r barriers.
Just glue it directly to the slab.

100% real wood.
Just built for where hardwood never worked before.

Thermawood-USA.

Ever search “waterproof flooring”?
Yeah… same here.

All you see is plastic, layers, and faux floors made of who knows what.

That’s why real wood is starting to stand out again.

Our hardwood isn’t trying to look like wood — it is wood.
Changed at the core so moisture doesn’t affect it the same way.
