It was a pleasure to spend the day with Alma Rosa Winery and Vineyards for their 5th annual Peace of Mind: 10,000 Steps in the Right Direction. Collectively, we were able to raise $210,000 to benefit One Mind and Santa Barbara’s Mental Wellness Center – the largest attendance and sum of funds raised since the walk’s inception!
First launched in 2020, Peace of Mind is the brainchild of Alma Rosa proprietors and General Manager: Bob & Barb Zorich and Debra Eagle as a way to support community services for mental health, as well as invest in research for causes, treatment, and potential cures. On May 24th, after listening to impassioned speeches regarding the ongoing mental health crisis, 275 of us gathered at the base of Alma Rosa’s estate to walk the 10,000 steps (~4.5 miles) walk through the hillside vineyards.
Over the last five years, the winery has raised over $955,000 for both organizations, and Bob Zorich serves as Chairman of the Hope and Healing Center & Institute in Houston and supports the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation in New York City. Reflecting on the day’s success, Debra said “as depression and anxiety continue to profoundly affect lives, we're honored to be part of a positive change.” I couldn’t agree more – thank you for the invite, Alma Rosa!

One Mind was founded in 1995 as a means of “advancing a three-pronged program strategy of accelerating discoveries, improving services, and transforming culture.” The nonprofit has some of the brightest minds doing neuropsychiatry brain research, and hopes to create a world that supports those facing brain health challenges.
For 77 years, Santa Barbara’s Mental Wellness Center has been providing mental health support to local youths, families, and adults. They specialize in mental health education and operate a residential services program for those impacted by mental health, including the unhoused, to foster social connection and a supportive environment.
