Thanksgiving - the whole thing is about God. He’s not just the one we pause and thank for everything. He is our everything. Jesus said I am the Bread of life. He said He is the Light of the World. The Resurrection and the Life. The Way, the Truth, the Life. He said I’m the good Shepherd and that He serves as the Door for the sheepfold. He’s the only Vine that bears any good fruit — Think about what He says about Himself! CS Lewis rightly said “He’s a liar, lunatic, or Lord”. Jesus is Lord. And the Lord Jesus is not the kind of God you give a quick nod to and get back to family and watching football. He’s the kind of God you give your entire life to. The kind of Lord you bow your knee to, but even after you get up, your heart never gets off its knees. A right view of Him humbles us. Makes us dependant. Makes us live for His glory, not ours. He’s the kind of God that we can’t even start to think about how we could pay Him back for all that He has done for us and all that He is to us. But we CAN BE…thankful. Today, tomorrow, and always.
