A retirement home in Germany partnered with a local animal shelter to let residents collectively foster litters of kittens too young for adoption, providing round-the-clock care and socialization until they're ready for new homes.

Many seniors feel increasingly isolated as more essential services move online, from banking to doctor appointments, with no easy way to get help. A nonprofit built a free app matching them with local volunteer "tech buddies" for one-on-one help.

Over 15,000 sessions later, it's helped seniors video call grandchildren for the first time, order groceries online, and stay connected during isolating periods.
