✨ Let’s Talk Acidity in Coffee! ✨

Did you know that coffee beans from different regions naturally carry different acidity levels — and that this plays a huge role in how your cup tastes?

🌎 Origin & Acidity: What It Means for Flavor

African Coffees (Ethiopia, Kenya): Often bright and citrusy with higher acidity. Think fruity, floral, lively flavors.

Central American Coffees (Guatemala, Costa Rica): Medium acidity with notes of apple, caramel, or chocolate. Balanced and clean.

South American Coffees (Brazil, Colombia): Generally lower acidity, offering smoother, nuttier, and more cocoa-forward flavors.

Indonesian Coffees (Sumatra, Java): Low acidity with earthy, deep, syrupy characteristics.

☕ How Acidity Shapes the Cup
Acidity in coffee isn’t the same as “sourness.” It's the sparkle — the brightness — that brings a coffee to life. Higher acidity means a more vibrant flavor. Lower acidity creates a mellow, smooth, easy-drinking cup.

💡 Potential Health Benefits

Coffee’s natural antioxidants (especially abundant in higher-acidity beans) can help support cellular health.

Lower-acidity coffees are often easier on the stomach for those sensitive to acidic foods.

Coffee in general has been linked to improved metabolism, better focus, and potential heart health benefits when consumed in moderation.

Whether you love a bright, fruity cup or a smooth, low-acid brew, understanding acidity helps you choose the perfect coffee for your taste and your body.

Did you know your morning coffee starts as a seed, not a bean? ☕🌱

Coffee “beans” are actually the seeds inside the coffee cherry — a bright red fruit that looks surprisingly similar to a cranberry when ripe. Inside each cherry are usually two seeds, which become the roasted coffee we all know and love.

🌿 A few fun facts about the coffee plant:
• Coffee plants are evergreen shrubs that can grow over 15 feet tall if left unpruned.
• They produce fragrant white blossoms that smell like jasmine.
• A single coffee plant can yield 2,000–4,000 cherries per year.
• Only the ripe, red cherries are harvested for the highest-quality coffee, rather than the mechanical, mass-harvesting many mainstream coffee brands use which harvest under-ripe, over-ripe, and ripe cherries.

So the next time you sip your cup, remember — it all begins with a vibrant little fruit growing high on a coffee tree. ❤️☕

🔥 Two Ways to Roast. One Goal: Perfect Coffee. ☕️

At Louisiana Roasting Company, we’re proud to offer both gas and air roasting methods — giving us the flexibility to bring out the very best in every bean.

🔥 Gas roasting delivers that classic, full-bodied flavor with deep caramelization — perfect for bold, traditional coffee lovers.

💨 Air roasting uses hot air for a cleaner, smoother cup with bright, distinct notes and less bitterness.

No matter the method, our goal stays the same: fresh, ethically sourced coffee roasted to perfection.

☕ Why do some dark coffee beans look shiny?
That beautiful sheen you see on dark roast beans isn’t grease — it’s natural coffee oil!

When coffee is roasted, the heat draws out oils from deep inside the bean. The darker the roast, the more those oils rise to the surface. It’s a natural sign of freshness and quality, especially when roasted recently.

Those oils are also where much of the flavor lives — giving you that rich, bold, full-bodied cup we all crave.

✨ Fresh roast. Real flavor. Naturally shiny.

Meet Jacob. He's been with us for over 6 years, roasting Louisiana soul into every cup. His favorite roast is a nice, bright medium, with fruit-forward notes, like the ones found in our Signature Rhythm & Blues blend.

Fun fact: He has been volunteering with animal rescue groups for over 10 years, working with dogs, cats, and even some more exotic intakes like rats, ferrets, and rabbits.

Give us a call or place an order online — Jacob might just share which bean he's excited about this week.
