I guess I'll throw this tomato away. We picked it January 7th, 2024 before a hard freeze. I don't think it's going to ripen. Today is June 4th.

I get questions every year about orphaned fawns. Most aren't orphaned. When they are young the doe leaves them alone most of the time for their protection. They have almost no scent so if they stay hidden its less likely to be found by predators. The doe feeds them and cleans them then she leaves them hidden. In most cases it's best to leave them alone unless it's known for certain the doe is dead. She can do a much better job raising them than us.

EHD is hitting some deer farmers hard. Be sure and ask your vet to prescribe Dexamethasone at 1mg/lb body weight. Med Shop Pharmacy in Texas sells compounded Dex at 96mg/ml. From my experience it's only successful at high doses given at the very first behavioral signs. When a deer is by itself at its eyes aren't bright something is wrong. Don't wait until they've been drooling several days.
