💙 Two grocery stores. Six shopping carts. Nearly 300 miles round trip.

Just another Friday at WNM Communications! 😅

On Friday, our team hit the road to help gather supplies for the 44th Annual Alamo Indian Day Celebration!

These supplies will help fill the care packages and gift baskets shared with members of the Alamo community during this cherished annual tradition.

As we continue working to expand connectivity in the Alamo community, we’re reminded that being a local communications provider means so much more than internet service.

It means showing up, supporting our neighbors, and being part of the communities that make rural New Mexico so special.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support the Alamo community and wish everyone a wonderful celebration October 16–17! 💙

We love seeing our teammates recognized in the community! 🙌🏻

We’re proud to have WNMU alumnus and Silver City native DeMarcus on the WNMC team. As our Data Architect Manager, DeMarcus plays an important role in how we use data, technology and innovation to better serve our customers, communities, and our teammates.

His career path is also a great reminder that where you start doesn’t always determine where you’ll end up — sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you never expected.

Congratulations on the well-deserved spotlight, DeMarcus!

When DeMarcus Contreras graduated from WNMU with a bachelor's degree in psychology, he expected his career to lead toward clinical counseling. Instead, his path took him into technology, data analytics and enterprise data architecture.

Today, the Silver City native serves as Data Architect Manager at Western New Mexico Communications, leading data strategy, system integrations, analytics and AI governance across the organization.

The foundation he built at WNMU has helped him turn an unconventional career path into an opportunity.

Contreras's journey reflects what an education at WNMU can make possible: the freedom to discover new directions, build on your strengths and create a career that may look very different from where you started.

The path forward may not always look the way you imagined. That doesn't mean it is the wrong one.

The damaged cable has been repaired and the network issue has been resolved, and phone and internet services should now be restored.

Further investigation has confirmed that the damaged cable is affecting a larger area than initially suspected. Additional crews are en route to assist those already on site.

Affected services include phone and internet across our network. Our teams are actively working to isolate the damage and restore service as quickly as possible.

We’ll continue to post updates as more information becomes available.

Some projects are measured in miles of fiber or the height of a tower. Others are measured in heart.

For more than three years, Rachelle Watkins has poured herself into making this project a reality.

As a member of the Navajo Nation, this has never been just another work assignment. It has been personal. Every meeting, every conversation, every challenge overcome has been driven by her commitment to helping bring reliable broadband access to the Alamo Chapter—a community she deeply cares about.

This week, after years of planning, collaboration, and perseverance, she finally stood at the groundbreaking ceremony and took part in that vision becoming reality.

Behind every infrastructure project are people who refuse to give up when progress is slow. Shelli is one of those people.

As our Company president stated “Leadership comes in many forms. Shelli is a guidepost for those who understand why leading through challenges reaps great change. Vision and a sincere desire to improve our world, is pure magic.”

🔔 Groundbreaking news!! 🔔

Today was a big day for Alamo, NM. 🎉

We officially broke ground on new wireless towers that will bring high-speed broadband to the Alamo community and surrounding areas.

Thank you to everyone who believed in this project and helped make it happen. We couldn’t have done it without you. 💙
