There are some projects that stay with you.

I've worked closely with the Young Women’s Entrepreneurship Program at Elizabeth Seton High School alongside Joy Lawson and it’s been something special to watch.

The Class of 2026 started as freshmen the same year Joy began teaching it. They’ve grown up in it—learning how to take an idea, shape it, question it, and ultimately stand up and present it as their own.

This month, one class graduates, and another steps into their second year.

Somewhere in between are business pitches, expo days, and a whole lot of confidence built in real time. And a few stressful moments, let's be honest.

It’s easy to talk about “the next generation of entrepreneurs.” It’s another thing to actually see it happening.

Grateful to be a small part of it.

70% of businesses don’t have an exit strategy.
Let that sink in.

In this conversation with Gina Schaefer, we talk about co-ops, ESOPs, and the bigger question underneath it all:
How do you protect what you’ve built and the people it impacts?

It’s not always glamorous.
It’s definitely not simple.
But it matters.

If you’ve ever:
- Been so in the weeds you can’t think long-term
- Wondered how to step away from something you’ve built
- Or questioned what sustainability really looks like

You’re going to want to hear this part of our conversation.

Beach brain: relax, wander, no agenda.
Business brain: optimize, plan, execute.

June is where those two need to meet. I've learned the hard way that a business that only runs on hustle isn’t sustainable. And one that runs only on vibes doesn’t pay the bills.

Somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. I'm working towards it!

Livestream today!

I’m sitting down with Rebecca Gunter on On the Front Burner. This feels like a perfect way to wrap the season.

Rebecca wrote last month’s blog on overwhelm, and let’s just say… she didn’t sugarcoat it.

Now we’re taking that conversation live.

If you’ve ever:
• Felt like your business only works if you’re constantly working
• Wondered how to make things more sustainable
• Or questioned if you’re doing it “right”

You’ll want to lock into this one.

If you follow along here, you know I love these "national days"—but OLIVES!

As a Greek, I feel like we have to honor the magnificent olive! I was fortunate to travel to Greece to meet olive growers when I worked with Whole Foods Market. I want to say the trip was organized by Divina who created National Olive Day.

Did you know there are over 500 olive varieties cultivated world-wide? I'm not saying the Greek olives are the best (but they are). 🇬🇷 Do you have a favorite? Are you an olive lover??

This was in my May newsletter—if you're signed up, you get to see it twice! If you're not signed up, get on it!

It’s not lost on me that I’m lucky to live where I do. With Washington, DC and Baltimore both within reach, I have access to some of the best food around. If you’re from this area, you already know these two cities are very different, and neither claims the other.

I like to think of myself as neutral. Switzerland, if you will. But I will say this: the 40-minute drive to Baltimore is always worth it. We recently went to SeppiaBaltimore, and it was delightful.

Housemade pastas that you think about the next day.

Attentive, thoughtful staff.

A space that was originally built in the early 1900s as a Five & Dime (and yes, I’m guessing many of you remember those).

This is exactly the kind of small business I love to highlight. An experience that feels intentional from start to finish.

If you’re looking for a reason to head to Baltimore… there are many, but this is a good start.

Sometimes you read something and think, “Yep… she gets it.”

That’s exactly how I felt reading this month’s blog from Rebecca Gunter. Although, I always feel this way with Rebecca!

Rebecca is a brand strategist, founder of Stoned Fruit, and someone who tells the truth about what it actually feels like to build a business.

We’re going to talk about:
• Why overwhelm isn’t failure (even though it feels like it)
• Building a business that can actually sustain you
• And how to stay true to your voice while still growing

In case you missed it, the May blog is live, and it’s a good one.

This month’s guest writer, Rebecca Gunter, gets very real about overwhelm, entrepreneurship, and what it actually takes to build something sustainable.

If you’ve ever felt like, “I’m doing everything… and somehow it’s still too much?”

Start here: https://www.favoritedaughterllc.com/post/one-bite-at-a-time-said-the-elephant-in-the-room

And a couple of things you don’t want to miss:

📩 Make sure you’re signed up for the newsletter—this is the kind of content that lands there first (and a little more personally)

🎙️ Rebecca will also be joining me On the Front Burner on June 1st

We’re calling it a bit of a season finale before we take our usual June/July pause. It’s going to be a fun one! (Truly… she’s as great to talk to as she is to read)

I hope you have a meaningful Memorial Day.
