We are marking our fifth official year in operation in which we've taken in nearly 45 dogs, a dozen cats, goats, horses, and anyone that has been in need that we could afford to. As most of you know, most of our dogs are special needs or very advanced in age. Taking care of them all isn't a cheap proposition.
This year we need to repair and replace portions of pens that keep them safe. Much of what we used originally was reclaimed, and now much of it is at the point in which simple repairs with more reclaimed products aren't an option. We have houses that are in some case several years old and beyond the point of more repairs.
We have dogs in need of surgeries, our beloved Negrito on a very specialized diet, others needing various lotions and pills. We make almost all of the food that feeds our fur family, but doing it takes a ton of time. We would like to scale up and use our outdoor firepit to cook large scale, and doing that requires materials. We would love an extra freezer so we could store homemade food to stretch beyond the three days at a time we are currently working with.
Our beautiful old lady Ceniza is slowing down and is a fulltime indoor dog now, but with that comes the need to have emergency pads for when she has accidents, or diapers, and neither is cheap. And then we still have vaccinations, wormings, kennel cough vaccinations, and checkups for our sickest friends along with the too often need for emergency vet visits, and the inevitable need to help a friend transition across the rainbow bridge.
And we'd still like to get a new pen up to handle intakes needing quarantine as our old one bit the dust finally. And run a water line to the main pen area from our well so we can cut down on hauling water to fill their tanks two or more times each day. We'd like to build durable semi-permanent housing for our friends that will last beyond a decade.
If you've followed us, if you know us, you know we take exceptional care of any animal that comes to live with us. And that care is over $2,000 USD per month when everything is going smooth. This year, our official fifth anniversary, we want to be able to go into winter knowing everyone is taken care of to the best level we possibly can. And whatever we raise always goes to taking care of our rescue family.
If you can afford to donate, it is very appreciated. If you can't we'd love if you could help by sharing and spreading the word. Whatever you can do to help, we appreciate. Thanks.
