Entering the Workforce Workshop with a focus on Entrepreneurship
Hosted by the Youth Employment Service and Simi Valley Public Library

As part of the YES Summer Workshop Series, the YES and Public Library will host workshops for young adult job seekers. On June 22, 2022, an Entering the Workforce Workshop with a focus on Entrepreneurship will be held covering employment options for teens, workplace ethics and safety, work permits and types of jobs permitted, as well as job readiness. This workshop is targeted for 13 to 16 year old job seekers, though job seekers of all ages may attend. Participants will also have the opportunity to speak with teen entrepreneurs. Participants will also hear from representatives from a few local nonprofits regarding volunteer opportunities.

Reserving a seat is recommended as seating is limited. Walk-ins are welcome.

After the workshop, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., YES and the Simi Valley Public Library will host a one-hour Mini Volunteer Fair for all community members inside the main section of the library. Workshop participants are encouraged to attend.

The students Monte Vista have a great handle on entrepreneurism! Startup Simi had the opportunity to attend the Kids Entrepreneur Fair, and it was so impressive! 20 booths filled the schools courtyard; everything created by the students including marketing, display ideas, money handling, supplies, and yes, there were some partnerships!

Talk about Inspire Entrepreneurship! Enjoy.

Here's what I'm doing that's different.
Know your audience.
Know the first name of anyone that had ever helped you out.
Understand what you bring into the space before you enter it.
Convince people that your work is worth their money.
Identify who your key supporters are going to be.
Provide in three sentences or less what you do.
Know what your donors care about.

Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grants have been launched in Ventura County! Application opens March 16 at 8:00 am.

The Ventura County Microbusiness COVID-19 Relief Grant offers $2,500 grants to qualified small business and nonprofit enterprises. Small businesses such as sidewalk vendors, independent contractors, individual artists, and others that earned less than $50,000 in 2019 are encouraged to apply. Grants will be awarded until grant funding is exhausted. Funded is provided in part through a grant from the California Office of the Small Business Advocate. The County of Ventura Board of Supervisors has allocated over $70 million in assistance to businesses and nonprofits during the pandemic.
