Today, A&K Consulting’s own Kevin Erickson took the stage at TEDx Western Iowa Tech Community College to deliver a powerful and deeply personal talk titled "The Cost of Moving Forward: What We Leave Behind."

In his talk, Kevin explored the emotional weight we all carry—the backpacks filled with trauma, guilt, expectations, and past experiences—and the toll they take when we refuse to let them go. Through vulnerability and storytelling, he challenged the audience to reflect on what they’re carrying... and what it might be time to leave behind.

It was an honor to be part of an event focused on ideas worth spreading, and we’re incredibly proud of Kevin for using his voice to spark reflection, growth, and healing.

Over the past week, we had the pleasure of training the Management Team at Mid-States Utility Trailer Sales Inc. & Keizer Refrigeration in Reasonable Suspicion Alcohol and Drug Training. This program is tailored to equip management with the skills to recognize signs of impairment in the workplace, enhancing their ability to maintain a safe and productive environment.

We received fantastic feedback from participants, and we want to extend a special thanks to Tom and Erica for inviting us to present. Late October and into November, we held our annual Manager Reasonable Suspicion Drug and Alcohol training at each of our locations that was conducted this year by trainers, Kevin Erickson and Andrew Dutler, former Sioux City Police Officers who now run their own consulting firm, A & K Consulting, LLC . Getting refreshed annually on how to spot the signs of drug and alcohol use in our workplace helps keep all of our employees safe allowing us to work towards our goal of getting everyone home safely home to their families at the end of the day.
