Today’s biggest pest? The wind. 🌬️😅
If you’ve lived in South Dakota for any length of time, you know our weather can change in a heartbeat. While a cooler day is a welcome break after last week’s scorcher, today’s wind had other plans.
One question we hear is:
“Why can’t you spray when it’s windy?!”
When applying mosquito treatments, we want the product to land exactly where mosquitoes rest—not where the wind wants to take it. Strong winds increase the risk of off-target drift, meaning the product can move away from the areas we’re treating.
Our technicians are trained to recognize and manage drift by constantly monitoring wind conditions, adjusting their spray patterns, reducing throttle when needed, and even turning back into the wind to keep treatments on target. But sometimes, despite our training, Mother Nature simply wins.
When wind conditions exceed product label & EPA guidelines, we hit pause.
Why? Because we’re committed to:
✅ Getting the product into the target areas where mosquitoes hide.
✅ Helping protect neighboring properties from unnecessary drift.
✅ Being mindful of pollinators and other beneficial insects.
✅ Being compliant with the labels and the law.
Weather isn’t an obstacle to us—it’s part of our strategy. We don’t believe in spraying just because it’s on the schedule. We’d rather wait and provide the quality, effectiveness, and professionalism you expect from us.
So today, Mother Nature called the shots… and after working through last week’s scorching heat, Evan gets a well-deserved day off. We’ll be back out as soon as conditions cooperate. 💪
Thank you for trusting us to do the job the right way—not just the convenient way. ❤️
