Going home after a hospital stay can bring relief and a new set of questions.

Who will help with bathing and dressing? How will meals get prepared? Can a family member be there during the day? What happens if the support that a discharged senior may need is more than a spouse can comfortably provide?

For seniors and their families, these questions are part of the care journey.

For case managers, helping people find workable answers is an essential part of their role.

National Case Management Week that kicks of Sunday offers an opportunity to recognize the professionals who help patients and families navigate care, understand their options, and prepare for what comes next.

Yesterday’s International Alzheimer’s Day event at Active Generations was a reminder that no family should have to navigate Alzheimer’s disease alone.

For someone living with memory loss, and for the people who care about them, support can take many forms: a helpful conversation, a local resource, a break for a family caregiver, or dependable help at home.

Thank you to Active Generations for bringing attention to the needs of people living with dementia and those who support them. We’re grateful to be part of a Sioux Falls community that keeps these conversations going beyond a single day.

Today is World Alzheimer's Day.
If you're caring for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia, you already know the parts nobody talks about — the repeated questions, the sundowning, the grief that arrives long before the goodbye.
You are doing something enormously hard. And you don't have to do all of it yourself.

What a great morning at Step Big for Parkinson’s! 💙

We were grateful to join the South Dakota Parkinson Foundation and so many families, friends, caregivers, and community partners at Harrisburg Middle School for this year’s walk.

The weather couldn’t have been better, but the highlight for us was the conversations. We met people walking for spouses, parents, friends and co-workers affected by Parkinson’s—and heard some wonderful stories of people supporting one another along the way.

A big thank you to Kaitlyn Johnson and her team, especially Rhonda and Joni, for all the work that went into bringing everyone together for such a great event.

At Amada Senior Care, we’re grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another. And we’re always glad to be a resource for individuals and families navigating Parkinson’s, aging, and changing care needs.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Amada table—and good luck to everyone who entered our Trader Joe’s giveaway! 🎉

What a great afternoon at the Brandon Senior Resource Fair!

Thank you to Bethany Meadows for hosting and to the community organizations that joined us to share information, answer questions, and help older adults and families learn more about local resources.

We’re grateful to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make the event welcoming and useful. Events like this are a reminder of how much can happen when local organizations work together to support older adults and their families.

Here are a few photos from the afternoon!

We know there are many excellent organizations serving older adults throughout the region, and we appreciate the important work happening across our entire senior-care community.

Recent reports of Cyclospora outbreaks across the United States have raised concerns about food safety, particularly during the summer months when fresh produce is abundant.

While anyone can become ill from Cyclospora, older adults and seniors are often more vulnerable to complications because aging can weaken the immune system and make it more difficult to recover from infections.

Knowing what Cyclospora is, how it spreads, and the steps that can be taken to prevent infection can help families keep senior loved ones safe and healthy.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting millions of older adults and their families. As awareness grows, more public figures are sharing their personal experiences to help others recognize the warning signs and seek support sooner.

One of those public figures is Bill Ritter, a beloved New York television news anchor who is speaking openly about his experience in hopes of encouraging others to pay attention to potential warning signs and seek medical evaluation when concerns arise.

His announcement serves as an important reminder that Alzheimer's can affect anyone and that early recognition can make a meaningful difference for individuals and families navigating the disease.

For many families, paperwork tends to accumulate slowly over the years.

Medical records, insurance information, financial documents, passwords, legal paperwork, and household bills may all end up stored in different drawers, boxes, or filing cabinets.

During an emergency or unexpected health event, finding the right information quickly can become stressful for both seniors and their adult children.

Taking time now to organize important documents can help reduce anxiety, improve communication, and make future decisions easier for everyone involved.

To learn more about why organizing documents matters for seniors and how an in-home caregiver can support this task and provide some peace of mind to families, click below:
