One of the things that’s fascinating about working on historic homes is the stories they have to share. Working on refinishing original Fir floors in this 1898 today. Treasuring these square headed nails, which they mostly stopped producing in 1890 and phased them out by the early 1900s. The floors of this master bath will have a lot of story to share.💕💕

We’re making lots of progress at the 8th St. restoration in McMinnville. Our friends at M&H Oregon Construction LLC are doing a great job with the new roof and rebuilding the front porch. Inside we’re re-capturing the original bones of the house and pulling up flooring that was laid over the original fir floors. Unfortunately this flooring was nailed down so there will be a ton of repair. Over the rest of the month we’ll work on rough-in for new plumbing and electrical and then treat the home to new insulation throughout by Troy Schulz Construction.

Yesterday we closed on this diamond in the rough. Located right in downtown McMinnville on 343 NE 8th Street, this poor home has been sitting for many years. My son Odin Thorson and I are thrilled to have the honor of bringing it back to life and we'll try to offer frequent posts to bring you all along on the ride!
