Here is an update from 🌀 NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center 🌀 which has now increased the probability of a tropical depression or storm developing in the Bay of Campeche to 50% over the next 5 days.

Slaughter Fire Department is always ready to respond! We can handle house fires, car wrecks, medical calls, and, YES, even a cat stuck in a tree! Special recognition to Firefighter Scott Long for footing the ladder, Firefighter Hunter Heinrich for rescuing the feline, and Captain Deron Bond for capturing the rescue on video. We are here when you need us. Stay safe!

Tonight Slaughter Volunteer Fire Department hosted a class with LSU FETI utilizing their flag prop. This prop is used to simulate gas emergencies for firefighter to be able to train under live fire conditions in a controlled environment. This training was a big success and our members along with members of other surrounding departments greatly enjoyed the opportunity to better their skills to help serve their communities.
Big thank you to the Instructors from LSU for always providing great training opportunities for us.

**SFD has training every Tuesday night beginning at 6:30pm. If you would like to join please come by the station anytime or call and leave a message. We are always looking for new members that want to be apart of a team to serve the community and surrounding areas.

At last night's Town Meeting, Assistant Chief Stephen Jones was appointed by the Mayor (and approved by the Aldermen) as the new Slaughter Fire Department Chief! Congratulations to Chief Jones!

Training tonight is HOSE TESTING!!! We annually test all fire hose to ensure it is ready when we need it! It is also a requirement for PIAL, which rates us for homeowner’s insurance purposes.
Please come join us. We meet every Tuesday night at 6:30.
