One skill can save-a-life. Jumping in with bystander CPR during a cardiac arrest dramatically boosts survival chances before first responders arrive.
Follow Simple Steps to Save a Life:
1. Call 911
2. Check for responsiveness
3. Check for a pulse or breathing
4. Start chest compressions

You never know when you’ll need to step up. A stronger, heart-safe community starts with each of us knowing and doing CPR.
Be a Lifesaver. Learn CPR. Spread awareness. ❤️👨‍🚒💪

Every year, we are honored to fly the flag and participate in today’s Annual Memorial Day Observance Ceremony at the City of Slidell’s Veterans Memorial Park, sponsored by the Slidell Garden Club.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this event possible, and to all the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and never made it home. Your service and memory will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸.

As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to talk about something that matters deeply to our department and our community.
First responders see a lot. We carry heavy moments from the calls we run, and sometimes those moments don’t stay at the station. It’s okay to not be okay — and it’s important to know you’re not alone.
That’s why Fire District 1 is proud to support our Peer Support Group — a confidential, firefighter-led space where members of our department and other first responders can talk openly with people who truly understand the job. No judgment. Just real conversations, shared experiences, and resources to help us stay strong for our families, our crew, and the citizens we serve.
We’re also part of the growing St. Tammany Parish Peer Support Team, which brings trained peer supporters together across the parish to help our brothers and sisters when needed.
And of course, we have to give a special shoutout to Chief Mooney, our first Peer Support / Crisis Response Dog. This golden retriever has quickly become a beloved part of the Fire District 1 family — offering comfort, reducing stress, and helping our members open up.
Whether you’re struggling with stress, sleep, tough calls, or just want to check in with people who get it — our Peer Support Group, the parish team, and Chief Mooney are here for you.
🛡️ Strictly confidential
🤝 Run by trained peer supporters
Mental health is just as important as physical fitness. Let’s keep taking care of each other — every month, not just in May.
Thank you, George, for all you do! 💪

Here’s a message from our Chief of Training, Tim Harrison.
Thank you, Slidell! 🙌
We just wrapped up our 24-hour treadmill run honoring fallen first responders and military families. Even when the treadmills were full, people were still running around Headquarters. The support was amazing!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, cheered us on, donated, or honked as they drove by — especially Slidell Police and Acadian Ambulance. We also had a special visit from 4-year-old Bear to help out again!
Shoutout to Tim Harrison and Norman Loustalot for each doing impressive 50 miles each and setting this up!

• 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥: 𝟒𝟔𝟑.𝟔𝟒 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 🏅
• 𝐓𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝: $𝟐,𝟗𝟓𝟏 for Tunnel to Towers Foundation
Every mile and every dollar helps provide mortgage-free homes for the families of our fallen heroes.
We were blessed with virtually no rain the entire event… and right as we finished, the bottom dropped out!
Thank you, Slidell!!

We’re thankful no one was home and no injuries occurred. Thank you to the crew and trucks that responded! 💪🚒

🐾 Update: We were able to use our chip scanner and have the owner on the way to pick up, Juneau. Thank you, everyone!
Do you know this pup? 🐶 This morning, a passerby noticed this pup stranded on an island near the Bayou Paquet Bridge. Our team at Station 15, along with DC1 and FP17, devised a plan using a 24' extension ladder to get the pup back on land safely. A Good Samaritan is fostering the pup in hopes of finding the owner. If this is your pup, please contact us; we'd love to reunite you!

We’re on the scene of a trailer fire off Highway 11 in the Alton area.
Fortunately, nobody was home at the time and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire has been determined to be an accidental electrical fire.
This isn’t what your electrical panel should look like — check out the video at the end.

Today, Wednesday, May 27th at 9:00 AM, the Slidell Fire Department (St. Tammany Fire District #1) kicked off our 24-hour treadmill run outside Headquarters to honor America’s fallen first responders and military families.
We’ll be running strong from May 27 at 9:00 AM until May 28 at 9:00 AM at 522 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA. Firefighters will rotate throughout the full 24 hours.
Come out and show your support! Stop by, cheer us on, and help us raise awareness and funds for Tunnel to Towers Foundation. All responders are welcome to join in including Slidell Police Department and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
🍩 Donuts can be available if you need a little motivation 😉
Every mile, every hour, and every drop of sweat goes directly to providing mortgage-free homes for the families of our fallen heroes.
When our own Fire Prevention Officer Taylor Bass passed away, Tunnel to Towers stepped up and paid off his mortgage — helping his family stay in their home. That’s the kind of impact we’re supporting.
Can’t run? You can still make a difference. Scan the QR code or click the link to donate in honor of our heroes.
Let’s show what Slidell Strong looks like — honoring the fallen, supporting our first responders, and standing with military families.
Every mile matters. Every sacrifice matters.
See you out here! 🔥
