Fire Suppression Solutions would like to pass along a great training opportunity coming up in Slinger, Wisconsin, on December 12.

Retired Las Vegas Fire Captain Richard Birt will share his 33 years of fire service experience during a six-hour training on lithium-ion battery fire safety, including often-overlooked hazards like chemical exposure, heavy metal contamination, and risks that remain after the flames are out.

This information matters well beyond the fire service. Understanding these hazards can help us better prepare for emergencies, protect those around us, and prevent contamination from spreading beyond the initial incident.

The training is offered at no cost, but the potentially lifesaving knowledge is priceless.

Thank you to Mayville Fire Department for having us at tonight’s open house.

Fire Prevention Month gives us plenty of opportunities to talk about preparedness, but some of the most valuable conversations happen when firefighters share what they’ve actually experienced on scene.

Hearing from Lt. Gary Spear and Firefighter Jeremy Gassner about their firsthand experience deploying the Fire Suppression Tool was a great reminder of why early intervention, training, and having more options available to crews matter.

We were glad to recognize them with challenge coins. Well deserved.

Thank you to Hartford Fire & Rescue Wisconsin for having us at today’s Open House and for bringing the community together around fire prevention and safety.

It was a great morning of demonstrations, conversations, and hands-on education, including an important focus on lithium-ion battery safety and the risks showing up in more homes and everyday devices.

Fire Prevention Month is a great reminder of the work fire departments do all year long to educate, prepare, and protect their communities. We’re grateful to be part of it.

Lithium-ion batteries can become a fire hazard when they’re crushed or damaged in the waste stream.

Keep them OUT ❌ of household trash and curbside recycling, and take them to ➡️ an appropriate battery collection or recycling location.
