More Island work! Norton closer installation on these nice residential/commercial doors out on block island. Our customer received doors with a lite that did not provide enough room for the mounting of a door closer. In this case we would typically opt to put the closer on the other side or in top jamb but since these are a commercial application using residential doors, they open out with a recessed jamb and that’s not an option. To overcome this, we built a standoff so that we could utilize a drop down plate to pass the lite trim and install the closer in a parallel arm configuration.

Ulta beauty store called us out to check on their front doors not closing properly and rubbing into each other. We found and determined that the previous installer of the continuous hinges did not thru-bolt them onto the doors. Over time, the small screws backed out and caused one of the doors to sag. This could have resulted in the door falling off and potentially injuring a customer!
Thankfully we got there in time and got new Roton hinges installed on both doors properly to safely secure them in the opening.
